Planning to travel in March with husband for a week. Leaving 3 kids with gradparents in Orlando. Due to flights out of Orlando, Puerto Rico came up as a potential spot to visit. I discovered Vieques, and would like to hear more from anyone who has been there.
My husband and I loved St John.... the beautiful beaches, snorkeling, potential for daytrips to other islands, ability to drive jeep from place to place and town to town, variety of upscale restaurants. Wondering how Vieques might stack up. The beaches look beautiful, but I'm worried that there might not be enough to do, enough nice restaurants, potential day trips for a week long trip.
Any insight would be very appreciated.
Tell me more about Vieques

Vieques is a wonderful place. There are many fabulous beaches to explore -- each with its own personality. Take a jeep down a rocky "road" and find your own private paradise -- then do it again and again and again!
There are more wonderful restaurants than you will be able to try in a week. Some are upscale & very posh, some are romantic, some are just picnic table and benches in the open air -- most are good enough to please even the most ardent foodie!
To do? Snorkeling, kayaking, biking, beach combing, touring the bio bay, hiking.... and, if you choose, nothing at all!
Vieques is a bit like a trip back in time -- when life was slower, simpler, easier.
The worst part about Vieques for us -- and we have been there five or six times -- is leaving....
