My DH & I are trying to find a place to stay in TCI. Never been. We are not fancy people. Normally we stay on St John and enjoy the treehouses/cottages at Maho Bay or rent a house. Have been to many many other islands and loved them all. However we would like a few less stairs (getting old bummer) and maybe a tad nicer place than a treehouse this time. TV and a/c would not be shunned by us
. We have one injury that prevents a lot of walking around. DH tore something or the other that makes it painful to walk long distances on flat land, so a 1/4 mile walk to get to a restaurant/grocery is about it. He is more than willing to drag himself to a beach just not a lot of walking ON the beach! HOWEVER we bike to beat the band, so if we can get some bikes,we can go anywhere. Of course car rentals are fine by us. Also like to snorkel and kayak, but the purpose of this trip is to get some warm vibes in the middle of winter and just hang about. TCI, and Provo in particular seems very posh to me...high rises, etc. And even if we wanted to spend $800 a night to get on the beach, it's pretty much already booked up. In fact even places with just a hint of water view are pretty much booked up too. This was a last minute idea for us. Our dates are flexible...we'd liked to stay about 7 - 10 days somewhere around middle of Feb on thru middle of March. Less days if the price is too dear. We don't require any nightlife and really don't need wonderful food either because I wouldn't mind cooking at all as long as there are a few places to get some dinners/lunch out once in a while! It would be nice to go out to eat, but really the nature, the water, the beach, the warmth are what we are all about this time.
We have pretty much decided on TCI because it is easy and fast for us to get to. (Have done various islands in the Bahamas, so don't want to do that). I realize this just might not be doable at this late date.
The advice I want from you guys is: is there another TCI island that we should be looking at instead of Provo, knowing what you know about us? Grace Bay beach was just so so beautiful that I was hooked before I started realizing that there are mainly high-rises there and that part is really unappealing to me, but anyway, they're mainly booked. I wanted stay at Ocean Club West because a friend just stayed there and said that is the prettiest part of the beach. She said there were narrow crowded beaches down around Windsong and that area. We have a room budget of around $3000-3500, but more or less (depending on the actual place and what is included of course) would be considered too. Since we don't dive, I just wasn't sure abt Grand Turk and I don't want to investigate it b4 "talking" to the experts here.
Thanks thanks thanks.

While Provo is lined with resorts, not many are high rises, most are 3-4 stories. Maybe 3 are 7 stories which is the highest.
You are going when majority of it is booked up. I must say though, the beach is even nicer in person, it's amazing!
You may have to either call or email
Turksandcaicosreservations.tc
They are a booking agent on island, and can look around at your price range.
Le Vele seems in your price range, actually walking distance to numerous restaurants and shops, quiet but luxurious.
Ocean Club West is our favorite place. If the resort site is full, try looking on www.vrbo.com and www.homeaway.com for the privately owned units.
