T & T Trip Report Part 1

Just back from Trinidad & Tobago.... This board has provided me with a wealth of information so I thought I would share my wealth now!!
I started to type out a day by day account of our trip but it became very lengthy so i will just give a summary of places that we stayed, activities and dining experiences.....
Accomodations......
Sadila House -- Guesthouse in Trinidad. We had a very, basic clean room with a private bath and breakfast was included. There is a shared living room area and kitchen for the 3-4 rooms in the house. It was a very convenient place to stay because it is not far from the airport. Also, just a short walk from the main road where buses and maxi taxis are readily available. Price is very reasonable and owner will provide airport transfers. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Sandy Point Village -- Hotel in Tobago, Crown Point Area. The hotel is very convenient. We were able to walk the 15 minute walk from the airport since we had backpacks and a fairly light load. Overall, it was decent. Our room was spacious and had a kitchenette. It was fairly clean as well. We had a few issues with the bathroom... tub didn't drain and no hot water but the staff promptly addressed these issues. Other than the bathroom, the place was great. Nice grounds, pools and jacuzzis. They do have a beach area that is nice for sunning but NOT suitable for swimming at all. You can also use the pool at the Sandy Point Beach club nextdoor. The beachfront bar at the beach club makes the BEST pina coladas we have ever had.

Monique's Guesthouse -- Trinidad. This place is situated in the Maraval area. If you like to stay in a place that you can walk to other places, this isn't your best bet. It is possible to walk from the guesthouse. However, there is no shoulder on the windy road where it is located and it could prove quite dangerous. Maxi Taxis are also not as frequent on this road as in other parts but there are many route taxis. The room was spacious. We stayed in the newer building which is much nicer. If you stay there, definitely request a room in that building. The place is clean and maintained well. I think they could stand to purchase new linens and towels for the rooms but that stuff isn't really all that important. The front desk put us in touch with Jose who provided us with tours and airport transfers. He is very flexible and will take you whereever you want to go. His prices are also fairly reasonable.
