T & C Where to go, Where to eat, What to see??????

you must have a cocktail at the new infinity bar at the grace bay club. their restaurant is gorgeous and i've enjoyed both my meals there, but many complain of the slow service.
i like hemingways's at the sands for lunch on their deck.
tiki hut is full of fun day or night. island drinks in tiki mugs, great food, and it's in turtle cove marina which provides boats to watch for entertainment. wed. rib nite is fun/yummy.
also at turtle cove marina is sharkbite for a good burger and a great tshirt & aqua serves a wonderful dinner.
i'm pretty sure we had a good sunday brunch with eggs benedict at mango reef but there were bloody mary's involved...
for sightseeing -
1) head out on the main road east from regent grand. you'll pass several more resorts and the golf course. keep going through the leeward neighborhood (perhaps blamona can tell you how to access the beach from here) and then out to leeward marina. continue on and i think you'll pass the new nikki beach and then what was the conch farm. now you're on the leeward highway which is The main island road. you'll come to the IGA. if you keep going you'll eventually be back at the airport road, instead take any of the right turns back down to grace bay beach.
2) go west on beach road (called the bight) to turtle cove marina and up the hill to leeward hwy. head west toward airport, but turn left to get on south dock road (near airport-find on map i linked you to in other thread) - after a bit you'll start to see chalk sound on your right. (amazing tourquoise water) keep going until you come to chalk sound road on your right. about 1/2 mile on this road on the left is a tiny sand road - you'll see water. this is sapadilla bay beach. nice small pretty beach. park & swim here. on up chalk sound road are tons of cool "villas" to look at if you're inclined. the best house is left at the fork & to the very end. it has a moat!
3) go towards the airport but turn right before you get to airport road to blue hills road. if you like conch have lunch at da conch shack - freshest on island. conch brought from water & prepared to order. if you continue out blue hills road you see what provo looked like before the building started. northwest point resort is the last thing out there besides a sand road to a deserted beach.
4) if you have a jeep or suv; from blue hills road bend left on malcolm beach road. more deserted part of the island but you'll end up at malcolm road beach which is beautiful and offers some good snorkeling. amanyara is there too.
5) on the leeward hwy between the golf course & the IGA on the same side as IGA is long bay beach road. if you can find your way down & onto the beach it's quite a nice beach to walk on. lost of conch shells.
no services at 2-5 so take plenty of cold water, sun screen, snacks, etc.
fyi: you can get a car (more comfy) and switch it for a suv for one day if you want to go to malcolm road beach.

Virginia, Thanks! This is great. We usually do like to drive around and find different beaches, homes, etc. Brunch sounds great, especially with Bloody Mary's! We are 6 so probably going to have to rent a minivan instead of SUV or Jeep. I assume IGA is where we'll need to stop on the way from the airport for groceries to the condo? Is there a liquor store near there? Is there a lunch spot you would recommend in between the airport and Regent Grand. We can't check in before 3 and land at 1:04.......

Definately do at least 1 excursion, I highly recommend Caicos Dream Tours (snorkel on reef, dive for conch, stop at stunning Half moon Bay) or SailProvo-catamaran sailboat, again stops at reef to snorkel, and sails, and Half Moon Bay. You will not belive a boat will appear to be on air with that gorgeous turquoise water.

With a car, check out Sapadilla Bay and Taylor Bay (bring drinks) the beaches are shallow for hundreds of yards, really cool. Like a giant swimming pool. In the area is chalk Sound, where I promise you'll never see turquoise like that again anywhere.

Head to Blue Hills, Da Conch Shack is colorful. Go alittle farther, and there are some buildings by the water, brightly colored different colors-if you like colors.....you'll be giddy.

Snorkel off the beach at Coral Gardens-it's free!

If you still have a car-head to Pelican Beach, where you can colect beautiful giant white conch shells to bring home.

There are banana boats for the kids. you can over to Iguana Island and check out the iguanas. (most excursions can stop there too)

At night, and bring the kids, they'll love the atmosphere, on Wednesday nights go to Regent Palms, thursday nights Da Conch Shack, and Friday nights at O'Soleil at Somerset. All have live music with Daniel and Nadine, and it's great!

you should be out of the airport in about 45 mins. the ride to RG is 15-20 mins.
i would get to the RG and drop off your luggage. have your van delivered to you at the airport if they're still allowed to do so or to RG if not.
it will be close to check in time by then and they may have your rooms ready. at least leave your luggage at the front desk.
then go eat someplace nearby. then draw 2 short straws for who has to go to the grocery, while the rest get to go for a swim.
well that would be my plan anyway.
re booze: it's pricey. you can buy it at the IGA or liqour stores. one liquor store is at turtle cove marina by scooter bobs, one on the bight road farily near RG. there are a couple more on leeward hwy. my best advice is hit the duty free shop when you depart the US. we just did this (into grand cayman) and saved a bundle! cases of beer will run $25-45 as i recall.
if you want a quick lunch, just past RG is the ports of call mall for a sandwich.

Just curious, I thought Daniel and Nadine were gone? I know they weren't there when we were there a few weeks ago.

Hemingways-excellent, casual food, fish/chips is Mahi Mahi !

Don't miss a trip with Caicos Dream Tours. You and the kids will love SNUBA. Snorkel Coral Gardens. If your parents don't snorkel they will enjoy a trip on the semi-submarine.

Be sure to have a lunch at Da Conch Shack. Hemingway's is another good lunch spot. My favorite place for dinner is Coco Bistro with its unique setting. Tiki Hut is a fun casual place for dinner. O'Soleil had a nice setting and great service, but the food was disappointing for us. Mango Reef is another good place for dinner that isn't all that expensive.

Also, forgot to ask about dress codes. I understand alot of places are outside dining. Are nice shorts ok? Or where would they be inappropriate? Anywhere the men need jackets or long pants? I thought it was a pretty conservative place...but then found the old "topless" thread on here and trip advisor!
