Surprise Weekend Trip

Hello- I am planning a suprise b-day present for my boyfriend over president's day weekend.

Since it is a short weekend trip I am looking for somewhere that is easy to get to.

Other requirements:
1. White sand/CLEAR water
2. possibly all-inclusive
3. don't want to spend too much, since paying for 2 people
4. somewhere that you can be private, but also fun/exciting/wild for people in their early twenties

Island and hotel suggestions welcome! thanks!

Just a couple of questions so everyone can be of more help:

Where are you flying from?

When you say you don't want to spend too much, what exactly does that mean? Give us a dollar amount in which you do not want to exceed (including airfare). By giving your budget, you wil get better responses.

Keep in mind that presidents weekend is peak season which = higher prices.

Keep in mind that for "a short weekend trip" no matter where you go, if it involves flying you will have to pick someplace fairly close and that can be reach non-stop from to your departure city otherwise you'll spend the better part of two days in airports or airplanes. Also as the OP pointed out President Week is considered "High Season" in the Caribbean and you may run into minimum stay requirements and, of course, high prices. If you are planning for this President's Week 2005 you may have difficulty finding airline seats at this late date.

Get to a local travel agent ASAP. Often they have package deals and discount last minute trips available.

Also try www.libertytravel.com and www.orbitz.com and www.cheaptickets.com

Your best bet though would be a travel agent first.

You might look into some of the closer islands, like T&C and The Bahamas since you can get direct short flights into GBI and Nassau.

Have a great time.

Hi Blissful, enlisting a travel agent with this short timeframe might actually be your best bet. From NYC area, you could do a direct flight to San Juan, Jamaica, USVI or Dominican Republic all with minimal travel time.

Sounds like a great present! I did this for my husband a few years ago in Jamaica and we had a great time!

Good luck with the rates since this is a holiday weekend!

Out of curiosity, I checked last night on www.cheapcaribbean.com and they had a few offers for a long President's day weekend. If you truly just want to get away to someplace warm and on the water without being particular to place or overall food quality, it might suit you perfectly. I think there were a couple of AIs available with airfare starting around $600 per person for that peak weekend.
