SuperClubs Puntarena

Jump to last reply

We are planning our vacation for Mar.20-99 in Cuba. Is 2 wks. to long a stay at this resort? Also considered is Sol Club in Cayo Coco. We are not real fussy people but certainly require good food and a clean resort. Night life is not a priority but long walks on a safe beach are. Please help us decide. We are also open for suggestions at a good all inclusive.

Doreen - I haven't stayed at either resort, but have stayed at Cayo Coco and Varadero, and I think between the two you may be happier at the Sol Club Cayo Coco. The SuperClubs Puntarena is the first resort on the Varadero peninsula, and I've heard that sometimes in the evenings you can smell the fumes from the offshore oil activity in the area. We stopped at this hotel on the way to and from ours (SuperClubs Club Varadero), and we spoke to one couple on the way to the airport and they said that 1 week would have been plenty there (they were there 2 weeks) - apparently it was just taken over by SuperClubs a little while ago and they haven't done their renovations yet. On the other hand, we enjoyed the SC Varadero so much, we're heading back in 2 weeks time!

For long walks on a safe beach, Cayo Coco's the place. We stayed at the Tryp Cayo Coco in May '97 and loved it - the beach is VERY long and spectacular. Not that Varadero beach is unsafe, but I would consider Cayo Coco's beach safer (more isolated) and definitely superior. I've also heard nothing but good things about the Sol Club there, so I think it may be your best bet of the two.

    Hope this helps!

I personbally believe that you should go to varadero instead of cayo coco. I have heard that the beach at sol club cayo coco is not that great, and that it has sea grass and all. i heard that the beach at the tryp cayo coco is better. I
personally would pick puntarenas over sol club cayo coco, just because the beach is better. i heard the beach in fornt of the sol club cayo coco is not so great with lots of sea grass. If i were you i would go to none of these two resorts, i would instead visit the Sol Club Las Sirenas in varadero. Varadero beaches are way better and more fun than boring cayo coco.Sol Club Las Sirenas is managed by the same great company that manages Sol CluB Cayo Coco, the Sol Melia of spain. This resort is located next to the amazing Superclub Club Varadero (not to ever be confused with the mediocre Superclubs Puntarenas) in a great beach> the Sol Club Las Sirenas is a great resort, a newer one, very pretty, with an excellent location, good food, confortable accomodations, and top notch entertainment and a great and friendly atmosphere. I personally enjoyed my holidas there more than at Superclubs Club Varadero, since this resort is adults only and very couply and the entertainment can be borign at times. I think if you still havent booked, that you should consider the Sol Club LAs Sirenas, because i am absolutely sure that you will have a great time.Way better than at cayo coco, or at the superclubs puntarena. But if you gotta choose between superclubs puntarena or sol club cayo coco, then i would go to Superclubs Puntarena, no matter what anyone says, varadero is way better than cayo coco in all respects. And Varadero is very safe too.good luck, and Bonnes vacances
