Wel, what can i say, i have friends that went there and said the service was bad. The resort is supposed to be an inferior quality resort(3 stars), and is a relatively older resort. It is been around since the early 1990s.However, they do offer good deals. The food i heard was not very good.I heard from people who were there before the resort was run by the Jamaican Superclubs, when the hotel was run by the spanish company Tryp Hotels, and they said that they liked it better when it was run by the spanish company, in terms of food and quality of service. Again, it might bbe better now, since i heard that some improvements were planned, and these people visited the placed soon after the resort was acquired by Superclubs. I guess i would not expect the same quality that you associate with other Superclubs resorts in the caribbean.
And if you are into saving money and into getting good delas, then these place might be just for you. Trust me, there is worst places in Varadero, so this is not like the worst place, but there is better places.
I dont know,i mean, it all depends on what you want for a vacation, and how much you are willing to pay and can afford. If all you want is to go to the sun, go to a nice beach, and dont mind being in a modest resort with modest facilities, then hey, this might just be the place for you.
However, i would suggest that you spend a little bit more for another resort if possible. But if you cant, well, it is ok, i mean it is still Cuba, and is still beautiful, so it will be fine.

But if possible, pay some more, trust me it is worth paying the extra dollards, since the quality of the vacation tends to be much more superior. True, a little goes a long way, but why settle for less when more can be better. There is many other all inclusive resorts that are not so dramatically nore expensive than Superclubs Puntarena that offer better services> And at the end of the day, it does make a difference, because fun is what is all about, and when you are in a place where things are great, it just makes your holiday that much better.
Another thing i dont like about Superclubs Puntarena is its location. It is the first resort from the airport, and although the beach is still pretty , the pictures i saw from there showed that although the beach there is beautiful it cannot compare to the other ones in Varadero. So thats something you might want to consider. For the most part the beaches tend to get nicer , the further you go in the peninsula.
If you still havent booked and can maybe pay a bit more, i would suggest "the Gran Hotel, tuxpan or Bella Costa(*although not such a big deal, these are better than Superclubs Puntarena, and are not not much more expensive, and are definitly in better locations.
If you can go a little bit higher up the scale, i suggest : Brisas del Caribe, Sol Club Las Sirenas, Riu Turquesa,.These are also all inclusive, and provide greater confort. In particular i reccommend Las sirenas. It is very very nice, with good food, and confortable atmosphere. A new resort only 2 years old, with excellent entertainment and nice location.

Going higher up the latter, are the most expensive, really luxurious resorts. On this category you find some adults only like Superclubs Club Varadero. This resort is managed by the same company that manages the Superclub Puntarena. However, this one is just so totally different from the Superclub Puntarenas. This resort was managed by Superclubs since it opened its doors in 1992, and is a very super deluxe resort , and consider one of varadro's very best. In fact, it was the first resort to ever introduce the all inclusive concept in cuba, this resorts remains one of Varadero's most recognized hotels, despite the new wave of recently opened resorts. This resort is excellent, and is truly in the luxurious spirit of superclubs, which are famous for their great service. This 4.5 stars hotel is adults only, and beautifully located amidst tropical gardens in an expansive property and it features a flawless gorgous beach in a great location. This resort is visited by a lot of couples. However, dont ever expect the same kind of story to apply to the Puntarenas.
And if you can pay even more money(notice that the prices for the two hotels are significantly different, with the Superclubs Club Varadero being among the most expensive, as supposed to the Superclubs Puntarenas, which is a more modest resort.you can try the Club Med Varadero, a true paradise. This is the most expensive of all, a true heaven, and one of Club Meds finest village resorts. So there, i pretty much told you about options.Other resorts that are good but not all inclusive, are the Melia Varadero, Sol Palmeras, and Melia Las Americas. These are very deluxe.
I hope you a great time, Varadero is great resort. If you go to the Puntarenas, i hope you enjoy yourself, and that things have improved there. Either way, i am sure you will enjoy it, i was just giving suggestions of places that are even better. But, the beach is the beach, and the prices of Superclubs Puntarenas are quite good, so it is a good deal.I mean it is not that bad, just that if you want and expect better you should consider other resorts. But it is not the end of the world, and you will love it there. so dont worry if you already booked ,and can change your mind. it is still beautiful, and is still great. So have a good trip.
