I seem to be addicted to trip planning these days and am looking to go to Bermuda for my birthday in the summer with my DH and DD. Because we'll be with our toddler, i'd really like to book a suite. In the past we've stayed at the Fairmont southampton and the elbow beach and loved both for different reasons (tho i am partial to elbow). To book a suite there for the time period we are looking, however, would cost about $1,200+ per night. We just don't want to spend that much. Pink Beach has suites for about 750/800 for oceanfront. Reviews on TA are mixed. reviews here are sparse. Any thoughts? Does it compare to the other 2?

Pink Beach is a very nice place which has undergone some recent renovations. There are some regulars on the Bermuda forum of TripAdvisor who just went there and gave it very high marks. It is one of the old Bermuda cottage colonies.
I actually think you would do better there because there will be more personal attention to you.
It is located close to MidOcean Club and Tucker Town.

Thanks Cmcfong! You always have such great info on bermuda- I appreciate your post. Question though-- how far from everything is PBC? For example, we love the Waterlot at the Southampton princess. How long of a cab ride would it be to get there? TIA!

It would be a significant cab ride. I would estimate at least twenty to thirty minutes. The best special restaurant near PBC is Tom Moore's Tavern. Frankly the location is a down for me. You would have to take a bus or cab to get anywhere since it is on the North Shore. You would probably be about mid distance between St. George and Hamilton, quite a ways from Dockyards and nearest to Flatt's. Of course with the daily savings in rates, a taxi or two is a bargain!

cmcfong- well, it seems sometimes persistance pays off I decided to just keep calling fairmont to see if the rates would ever get lower and today they did! not by a ton, but enough to make a difference. I called and was quoted a lower rate, then an even lower AAA rate. Then, since we book through Amex i was able to get the rate just a little bit lower. So, the sum of it all is that i can get a suite for just under $1,000 at Fairmont southampton, but our dates changed to earlier in the summer (not my birthday). Thanks for all your help and info on bermuda.

ps-we've been 2 times now and have some favorites for dinners out-- My DH likes the waterlot, the newport room was special for my 40th, port o call is great. we went to the places at ariel sands and at the reefs and didn't love them. Any other suggestions you might have? Thanks!

I think you will be happier at Fairmont, it is a beautiful property. But since you mentioned you are AMEX, I am told there is an automatic upgrade at Elbow when you have Platinum status on AMEX...just in case you are interested.

My favorite restaurants are Waterloo House (which will probably have closed by the time of your visit, they appear to have little future left), Ascots, Lemon Tree (it is next to Par La Ville Park, don't be put off by appearances, the food is quite good. Chef was head chef at Cambridge Beaches for years), Aggie's (extremely casual lunch in town sitting at the edge of the harbor...tiny portions, but you bring your own wine and sit out relaxing in the breezes off the water, pretty nice). Enjoy your trip. Bermuda is another world.

BTW- just wanted to mention that upgrade with amex is only based on availability. In the summer, there might not be an available upgrade-- that happened to us last time we stayed at FS.

Hi,

Glad to hear you got a suite at So'ton Princess. When you go down to Whaler's Inn go next door to the Horsehoe Beach. As you enter the Horseshoe beach go to the little beach at your right - that's the children's beach - your DD will enjoy that! Bring along the blow-up arm bands, a pail and a spade.

I don't know much about the baby rental stuff. Can you tell me how old your toddler is so I might help.

Thanks BlueSea for your response. We are actually all set- the hotel has everything that we'll need. We've actually stayed at the SH princess before, but before we had our daughter. I never noticed the children's beach at Horseshoe- thanks for the tip!
