Summer air fares to Caribbean (Barbados) - when do they drop
Typically I purchase tickets 6 months or more in advance to be sure I get the flights I want. However, this year pricing to Barbados is over $800 economy, so I'm holding out to see if it comes down.
When do they sales usually occur for summer, and when do they occur if you want to go in fall. I've usually booked already so I don't remember when this happens.

Hi Lois. I have found that best airfares show up about 3 months prior to your travel date.
Set up a Fare-watcher too through Travelocity and it will automatically email you when the price drops to whatever level you specify.

Hi, Lois--
For the last three years, prices went down in February and March for travel to the Caribbean before June 15. Prices were higher between June 15 and around August 15, presumably for kids' vacation. Hope you can find a good fare!

Yes, about June or so. But start watching in May just to be safe. Also, if you're not already signed up, sign up for e-savers or something similar. Every couple weeks I get an email from USAirways giving me aifare specials to different islands.

Lois, If you can fly mid week to mid week, you will most likely get any sales that come up. I have found on fare watcher that the only available seats at the cheap price are tues, or wed flights. So, if your job or life is flexible, you will get better fares mid week travel.

Yes, fares are good right now. I just noticed that AA.com is running a spring fare sale to Barbados from several major cities, including Washington D.C. You can get a roundtrip flight -- through June 15, I believe -- for about $330 after taxes & fees.

Thank you for your tips and make sure you try www.skyauction.com that is where I got my tickets to barbados for really inexspensive. You have to bid on tickets but it is kinda fun.You take a big known airline. You aren't on a charter deal.I think it is great and use it often.Good Luck-Kelly
