Suggestions for 1st all inclusive trip

Jump to last reply

Husband and I are in our late 50s and never thought we'd like a beach vacation. But this year we tried one in Puerto Rico and were surprised that we really enjoyed it. So in 2016 we'd like to try an all inclusive resort. We're open to anywhere in the Caribbean. I'll also be posting this in the Mexico forum since we'd consider that area as well.

Our dates are tentatively February 27 - March 5th. We'd be flying from Detroit. We'd like a really nice pool and a calm beach that's good for walking as well as going in the water. We prefer a quiet environment rather than loud music and organized pool/beach activities. I've heard that at some places it can be hard to get chairs by the pool or on the beach without getting up early to "reserve" one and this is a concern for me. Food doesn't need to be an amazing dining experience, as long as it's decent we're fine. Husband is mildly interested in water activities, so it would be nice if those were available but not crucial.

Budget for the week is $5000 - $6000 including airfare. I know our dates are high season, so I'm hoping that this is enough to get something that meets our needs.

Any recommendations of specific resorts would be much appreciated. Thanks!
