Hi. Has anyone ever stayed at a place called Hix Island House in Vieques Puerto Rico? I visited their website and it sound really nice, but I haven't been able to find it any travel books. Thanks!

There aren't a whole lot of places to stay on Vieques, and I think I've seen the Hix Island House website...it does sound nice. You will need to rent a 4-wheel drive to get around, but this is a REAL easy place to get around. You won't see much about Vieques in travel books. Since the military controls so much of the island, it hasn't been developed much. This is the place to go to regenerate stressed brain cells!
Just returned from Vieques. I saw the Hix Island House - did not stay there. It is just like the pictures - not near the town or beach. Though both are a short drive away. Have you checked out the Vieques web site for the whole island. All private homes are listed there too.
Hi Debra! Can you tell me more about the situation in Vieques right now? How are the protests going? Is the Navy letting tourists into the best beaches (blue beach, red beach, green beach, etc?). Thanks for the update!
