St Thomas/Puerto Rico

My kids are 5yrs old and 6yrs old.. in your opinion which resorts or villas are best for St. Thomas or Puerto Rico? We were looking at Marriott Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort in St. Thomas or Rincon Beach Resort in Rincon Puerto Rico. Any suggestions?
Where would be the best place to stay with young children? We don't necessarily need alot of activity all the time and want to feel safe at our location. And the resort can be on the beach or at least the beach needs to be close enough to walk to. Any suggestions would be great....

The Marriott location actually has 3 facilities: the Reef, Morning Star and the Cove (a timeshare property). The units at Morning Star are on the beach, you can walk to it from the Reef, which is positioned on a promontory at the entrance to Charlotte Amalie harbor. There is also a shuttle between the properties. There is a ferry to take you to town, but you may want to rent a car, as taxi rates are high. Lots of children at the Marriott, and they seem to have fun. And yes, it is safe.

I don't know anything about the place in PR, sorry!

Ditto that..PR info would only be about old San Juan and that might not fit your situation.. Marriott is just fine!!

you might consider wyndham sugar bay, it is a bit less formal than the marriott. it's on the east end of st. thomas so you have a decent view of some of the bvi. the pool is large & fun & directly behind their beach. they have a kids club although i don't know anyone who has used it (friends kids are older) for the adults jet skies, snorkeling, kayaks, catamaran snorkel trips & i think they still have a few slot machines.

IMHO, Marriott is a much nicer property than Sugar Bay.

virginia: The "slot machines" are video lottery terminals, VLTs. They are also known as the "crack cocaine of gambling." Yes, Sugar Bay has them.

FYI: The Sugar Bay Beach Resort on St. Thomas hasn't been a Wyndham for several years. But the resort is now back to being an AI, unlike the Marriott.
