I'm new here. Can someone tell me the best way to get from St. Maarten's A.C. Wathey Pier to Maho Beach. We'll be arriving on a cruise ship and our cruise line does not offer Maho beach as an excursion, but we were wanting to go there. Wasn't sure how far it was and the best way to get there.
Any info you can give will be much appreciated. THANK YOU!

Hi rubyc6
You can take your own taxi to Maho Beach from the cruise dock, or look for one offering a trip to the Sunset Beach Bar to watch the airplanes at close range as they land.
Having said that, there isn't much point in getting there before 12 noon if plane watching is what you are intent on doing, as nothing much happens before then - but of course the beach - and the bar - are there all the time !
You could prowl down Front Street and buy duty free jewellery, cuban cigars, souvenirs, clothing, etc (don't buy cameras or electronics as all you will save is the US State sales tax - which you probably don't pay anyway if you purchase via e-mail !) then take a taxi from the main square by the Court House when you are ready to go to Maho.
Always make sure that the taxi driver is wearing either a yellow or an orange shirt bearing one of the two local Taxi Association logos.
I hope this helps.
