St Maarten with teenagers
TRaveling to St Maarten in Feb with 15 and 14 year old. Husband has to travel off island to St. Eustatius for an overnight trip so looking for a hotel/resort where I can stay on property and kids will have things to do. Great beach, pool, activity, etc. Any suggestions? Any other islands easy access for his day trip?

I live on St. Eustatius and visit St. Maarten frequently, even with teens at times. We always stay at Royal Palm Sunterra Resort in Simpson Bay due to it's price and location. It is a full service resort on the beach with some great restaurants in walking distance, as well as some nightlife and entertainment close by.
Another option is Maho or Royal Islander resort at Maho Bay near the airport. Both also on a beach with plenty of dining, entertainment, and even some shopping nearby.
Will you have a car during your stay? Is your husband by chance coming to Statia to visit the oil terminal?
Regarding a day trip, I can highly recommend the island of Saba and can give you plenty of info for a tour, lunch, things to do, etc.

My husband works for the terminal and we've lived here as US expats for 13 years for that reason. I don't know if your husband is interviewing or not, but if he is I'm just curious why you aren't all coming over? Not really any of my business, but I was just curious, that's all.
I would not recommend staying on any island other than St. Maarten for his visit to Statia. It is difficult with flight schedules to get from St. Kitts to here (even though it is so close you still have to route thru St. Maarten), and Puerto Rico is too far (90 miles away) and also routes via St. Maarten to get here. There are four to five direct flights between St. Maarten and here per day, so that is really the best option since it is the closest with the most flight options. I also think that there would be a lot for your kids to see and do there.
In other words, St. Maarten is the main hub for St. Eustatius so I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else if he is coming here just for an overnighter.
Unless you plan to stay only in your general resort area a car is almost essential on St. Maarten (or any of the other islands you mentioned). However, you can still use cabs here and there to visit some areas (like the two capitols). It can just get expensive if you use cabs a lot, which is why most people rent cars there.
Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any other questions.

thanks so much for all the detail. My husband isn't interviewing, he leases tanks (or has storage) there. Has been doing business there for years and has never actually gone to see it, so we are hoping to make the trip this winter.

Oh, I see.....that's interesting. I just might possibly be the agent at times when your husband loads or discharges cargo here. Small world.
If you are going to be spending a week or so down here then staying on St. Kitts or in San Juan might work for his travel to Statia, it would just take longer (probably all day in total with layovers) to get between the islands than if you are on St. Maarten.
At any rate, let me know if you need more info and have a great trip!
