St Lucia - Jade Mountain vs Sugar Beach?

Jump to last reply

We hope to travel during late May 2014. The plan is to spend half the trip in the north (for the Friday festivals, casino, beaches, and busy all inclusive resort activity) and the rest in Soufriere for the rugged outdoor beauty, peacefulness, and joy of it.

I've spent most of my adult life as a single adult vacationing where children will have fun... now I want an exotic luxurious vacation that is just for me -- as an adult. Ok, yes, my 20 yr old kid wants to come with me... but he has to go where "I" want to go. :)

And in Soufriere I'm torn between Jade Mountain and Sugar Beach. I need your advice.

I've been drooling over a Jade Mountain Sun or Moon suite for a couple months... it is gorgeous. But then I found Sugar Beach and the beachfront bungalows are equally amazing. Plus the view from actually living between the Pitons vs just looking at them from JM seems cool. Yes and the SB spa looks amazing as well.

But then I swing back to the amazing uniqueness of Jade Mountain. Its like absolutely nothing I'll probably ever experience again. Not that I intend to be in the room all that much at either location.

But I can't decide. Neither one seems to have much in the way of activities (or activities included in the cost). Both are pricey. Both have beaches.... ultimately I can't find anything that swings my vote.

I'm hoping someone who knows both can help me determine why I should choose one over the other. I have to book soon! Not much availability left at SB in the room I want.

Opinions? Thanks!
