We are shorty going on holiday to Vieux Fort in St Lucia . We want to take an excursions from Vieux Fort around the island. We understand that there are no coach tours and the only way to take a tour is by private taxi or a mini bus, Is this correct. .If so would the cost be per taxi or mini bus,and then presumably it is best to share with other guests to reduce the cost. Cash is obviously how you pay so is it best to go to the cash machine at the bank in Vieux Fort and exchange for Eastern Caribbean dollars. How much would be expected to pay for a taxi and/or a mini bus for the day in Caribbean dollars. We are from the England. We have seen the firm called Nerv's Taxis mentioned on another web site. Has anyone used them?
Any information would be helpful as this is our first visit to the Caribbean.

I am assuming you are booking thru a UK tour operator and assuming you are staying at Coconut Bay. If so you will find a book of available excursions usually in reception and the local holiday rep will probably meet you first day or two to explain how to book an excursion inc how to pay, which is usually by credit card.
Otherwise if you want a private tour, there are others who post here who have done this and will likely advise you if they see your question.
Not sure if I explained that very well; if you are going with Kuoni for example there will be a Kuoni folder with listings of excursions, each tour operator has their own folder with excursions somewhere in the hotel. Then there will be other Kuoni guests all around St Lucia who might also want the same excursion and there will be a pickup time from your hotel and the other guests will be picked up from their hotel and onwards to the excursion.
All hotels has a tour/excursion desk where you can book off sight things to see and do.
We did the Land and Sea and the Jeep Explorer Safari. Loved them both. Great way to see the Island.
Sunlinks Tours is a good option also. Especially if you want to book on-line with a credit card prior to arriving. Their web-site has many great tour options including Island hopping to Martinque and St. Vincnet/Grenadines.
