St Kitt's Trip Report

Jump to last reply

Just got back from St Kitt's - following is a brief trip report
Hotel: Timothy Beach Resort - we were very pleased with this hotel. Our room was large and clean. As requested we had an ocean view room with a king-sized bed. Towels were a bit thin but always in sufficient quantities. The small fridge, ironing board and iron were very useful. Note: just soap is supplied, no shampoo. We had the meal plan - 7 breakfasts and 7 dinners. The food was good but not gourmet - we were satisfied. The tropical cheesecakes (especially passion fruit and guava) were good. The hotel grounds are well maintained and attractive. The beach was badly damaged by the hurricanes of previous years - so it is quite rocky at the water entry point and somewhat eroded. This was no major concern for us - since the snorkeling just in front of the hotel was very good - lots of fish especially in the afternoon (even saw an octopus !)
The Island and Excursions:
St Kitt's is a very beautiful island (mountains and great vistas (especially in southern part of island)
Round Island Tour - we booked both our tours through our travel company rep (Signature).
Our cab driver for the Round Island Tour was Lionel (whom I hightly recommend - he never rushes you, stops for ample photo ops and knows a lot about the island). We saw Romney Manor (Caribelle Batik),Brimstone Hill,Black Rocks, stopped for 1/2 hour in Basterre - the main town)
Spirit of St Kitt's Catamaran - all day cruise to Nevis with stop at at St Kitt's for snorkeling. This was a very enjoyable excursion. The boat is comfortable, the crew were friendly and safety conscious, snorkeling was OK but to tell the truth we had better snorkeling in front of our hotel. Pinney's Beach on Nevis was a lovely long stretch of sand. The beach BBQ was great.
On our own: - we had Lionel drive us to Turtle Beach (at southern tip of island) where we spent a great day at the sandy pleasant beach. The restaurant there supplies free beach loungers and chairs and the use of their wash rooms - a nice touch.
Overall: we had a great time and would return to this island and this hotel
