We're in St Kitts 1 day on a cruise and looking at 2 options - this is the last stop after a busy cruise (no days at sea to relax) so we're not going to be real active. We are docked from 7 AM - 4 PM.
Option 1:
Considering taking an island tour with a taxi driver and then off to lime awhile on Cockleshell at the Reggae Beach Bar or on Frigate Bay.
Option 2:
Considering an excursion through the ship to snorkle and then head to Nevis for a barbecue on Pinneys Beach. I normally look for excursions privately (not through the cruise line) but sometimes they're only availabe via the ship.
But the cat sail from 9AM - 3PM will take up all of our day so we will miss St Kitts. But it sounds like a nice relaxing day.
The snorkeling and more importantly a nice, powdered sugar sand beach are what we would like to experience.
Thanks!
St Kitts for an end of busy cruise relax day?

We are not cruise people, but we have just returned from an 8-day vacation in St. Kitts & Nevis. For relaxation at the end of what you described as a busy cruise, we would recommend the St. Kitts Island tour ending at Cockleshell Beach. The scenery on the drive to Cockleshell Beach is spectacular. . .Atlantic Ocean on the left and Caribbean on the right. And Reggae Beach Bar is very nice. The beach is white powdery sand. What's not to like for relaxation? Nevis is a beautiful island, but with your time constraints, and desire to "chill out" at the end of a busy cruise, we don't think you'll be disappointed with the St. Kitts' option.
Thanks Tomarkot - I think your recommendation is perfect. That would be a great way to experience the beauty of St Kitts and relax on a great beach with a margarita!
Perhaps we will save the snorkel/Nevis trip for when we return for a week in St Kitts & Nevis. Sounds like a nice quieter location for relaxing when the ships aren't docked.
One thing about cruising is that you are able to sample a variety of islands and meet the people. But going back and spending a week in St Martin, for example and hopping over to Tortola for another week is a great way to experience "limin" on 2 very different islands.
Thank you again, hope your vacation was enjoyable. Have you already posted a trip report?
Yes, we just recently posted a short report under # 20 on this Caribbean forum.
Hope you enjoy your time no matter which island you choose.
If by "powdered sugar sand" beaches you mean "white" sand you won't find that on Nevis, especially Pinney's Beach which has a brownish hue to it.
Contrary to what tomarkot said the sand at Cockelshell beach (on St. Kitts) is light beige in color. While it may look "white" at first glance when you compare it to beaches you find on islands like Anguilla, Aruba, Anegada, Provo, Barbuda & Grand Cayman it certainly is not "white". Frigate Bay is a darker beige but not quite as dark as Pinney's Beach.
Still in all, Cockelshell is an attractive beach.
Given your adgenda I'd stick with option 1.
