St. Kitts - Need Help!!!

Jump to last reply

Has anyone stayed at the Rex Papillion in St. Kitts? Or even the island in general. Are the beaches nice? Maybe going in January any advice would be much appreciated.

The Papillon, formerly the Sun-n-Sands hotel is awful. It is an all-inclusive so they say, but they tack on additional charges if you want steak or seafood - you know, the good stuff. The reviews have not been good since they reopened. I cannot believe they charge as much as they do since they reopened under a new name. The resort is not a huge resort like the other Rex properties, and we have been to 2 others. They are no Sandals or Beaches. Rex did a terrible job with this place. You would be disappointed spending all of that money for this tiny resort which does not have much to offer.

Your best bet would be Timothy Beach Resort, right down the road from Papillon. They are on the calm waters of the Caribbean, unlike the Papillon, which is on the very rough Atlantic ocean. You cannot swim nor snorkel in this area, you have to go to Timothy's Beach or other beaches in a close drive's distance.

We LOVE the island of St. Kitts and frequent it often. Always stay at Timothy or at Island Paradise. Have stayed everywhere else on the island except for the high priced private villas.

There is much to do on the island; from rainforest hikes, volcano hikes, sugar cane tours, catamaran trips, fishing for Mahi-Mahi and Barracuda, to plantation tours, etc. Shopping is poor on the island, so if your wife likes Aruba for shopping, she will be VERY disappointed in St. Kitts.

I will be happy to email you privately with more information if you wish. I do not like to post my email address.

The beaches are beautiful on the island, with many assorted sand colors and textures, from shells crushed to black volcanic sand. A lot to see and experience. You would love it.
