First, of you are going to the island in the USVI's it's called St. John, not St. John's which is the capital of Antigua (you want to make sure you end up on the right island).

Second, it would help if you told us what type of accomodations you are seeking, how long you are planning to stay and how much you have for a budget. There are all types of places on St. John ranging from Campgrounds, to Guest Houses, to upscale resorts and private villas.

Help us steer you in the right directions by shatring some information.

Look at the Caneel Bay or the Westin, they are the only really upscale resorts on St. John.

You might do well to contact a good travel agent with a lot of Caribbean experience as they could guide you by asking they necessary questions and assessing your needs.

esqt1: Caneel Bay is world famous as the resort founded by the Rockefeller family. It is also where many big celebrities have delighted in the seven private beaches and sublime furnishings of this very exclusive resort. "Brangelina" stayed for a whole week with their entire brood. The Westin is a far more typical Caribbean resort with plenty of amenities but a mediocre beach... mind you, it's mediocre for St. John which boasts some of the most famous and fabulous beaches in the Caribbean. Both resorts are pricey ranging $700 per night, with Caneel having very limited "specials" and the Westin having a few more offerings for less. The Caneel Appeal may be lost on many who can't understand paying more than $700 a night for a room with no tv or phone, and some complain that the Westin is too family oriented (not a minus in my book), but both are a far cry from the big, "Atlantis" or AI resort so you should look at the websites for each to get a better sense of what you're not getting. You may also try looking into rentals at the Grande Bay Resort which is convenient to town, is a new development with some fairly upscale units but no services like a full resort. In the same vein, Gallows Point is also very nice but an older development with a strong following of clients.
