Im researching villas for a week long honeymoon. Im debating between staying in Cruz Bay (no need for rental car) or going elsewhere (Id need to rent a car). Does anyone have any experience at Lavender Hill Suites in Cruz Bay? Any other villas you'd recommend. Im hoping for about $250/night during low season.

Don't give up a car rental even if you stay in town! The best beaches require a car or taxi ride and there's so much to explore . Some of the rental agencies allow you to park in their lot when you're in town, ie: St. John Car Rental.
Check out Caribbean Villas and Resorts www.caribbeanvilla.com and villafish.com for a good selection of small villas and apartments. We've stayed at Island Time, a cute villa with pool and jacuzzi just past the Westin. When is your honeymoon? $250.00 a night would be hard to find in high season, but a good possibility off season, including late summer, early fall at Gallows Point.
We were married on the island and stayed at Gallows Point which is in front of Lavender Hill. Also stayed at the Westin but enjoyed Gallows more. You can open the windows which are floor to ceiling and the view is outstanding.Also has a kitchen which makes it a little cheaper than going out for every meal.Funny thing is though,we are planning on staying at Lavender Hills also in 2010. Prices are a little better and we like to have more money for shopping,excursions etc. The place looks comparable to Gallows so I don't thing you can go wrong either way. Plus you will not have to rent a jeep if you stay there, although I would for a day or two to explre the beaches and island. That way you are not at the mercy of the cabs or safari buses which can sometime take awhile. St John is my favorite place in the world!
