St. Croix and sea grass

Anyone have any knowledge of which St. Croix beaches don't have sea grass right off the beach in the swimming area? I like to snorkel and know the grass is great for sea life, but the little one in the family might not get in if she has to wade on the grass. I am trying to choose a self-catering apartment home, and so many beaches appear to have the grass...

Thanks!

Which areas are you looking at? I don't recall sea grass anywhere on the north shore or the west end, but it has been ages since I've explored the beaches farther east.

If you are still there on St. Croix ...

There are many beaches on the west shore of St. Croix, and several nice places for snorkeling and scuba diving, each with its own character ... mostly smooth white sandy, but some small rocky lava? formations or with smooth pebbles, with or without waves, with or without lots of fish and flora, privately pristine or with convenient amenities.

I have rarely seen sea grasses anywhere on the West End beaches. It seems that the concave shape of the West End of St. Croix, with F'sted pier near the center of the curve, creates a protective water climate that is usually clear and colorful, gentle and swimmer-friendly compared to other sides of St. Croix.

Best of all, there is natural shade on most of the western beaches conveniently near the water, and outstanding sunsets and rainbows that can fill the sky.

My husband and I are talking about retiring to St. Croix. I have read several of your postings and would like to ask you some more questions.

There was sea grass off a section of Chenay Bay, but none in West End Bay or Cane Bay beach. Be sure to go out to Buck Island for fabulous snorkeling.
