St Coix lodging - Pelican Cove Condos or Hotel on the Cay?? Help!

Hi - I have narrowed down my choices for our trip 1st week of April. I have reservations at both, and I need to cancel 1. We have a nice apartment at Pelican Cove (the condos, not the hotel), the Sea Jewel, giving the 4 of us some room to stretch out. A kitchen(ette) is important, and it has a full kitchen. As far as I can figure, it is not far from the center of Christiansted (we are diving with SCUBA in the Caravelle Mall) and near restaurants and attractions. That way my teen sons (16 yrs old) can go out on their own in the afternoon.

But Hotel on the Cay looks pretty interesting too. It is on an island right in the harbor so the location is very intriguing. Obviously very convenient! It is a hotel so we have two rooms (waitlisted for a suite for DH and me) but they have kitchenettes. We won't have as much room, but it is so close to everything.

Anyone know either of these? Any thoughts or advice? I read somewhere that HOTC looks a little run down (yes, I am taking this with a grain of salt). Pelican Cove is cheaper, too...
