I am considering a trip to St Barth later this month and am curious if the Hotel Isle de France lives up to its reputation. I've read wonderful things but don't know anyone who's been there. If you've stayed there I'd love to know your thoughts.
And more specifically, if you stayed in a Garden Bungalow I'd like to hear what you felt about the room since that's my only option. I usually like to stay right on the beach -- so should i look elsewhere or is it worth it to stay at this resort?
thanks for your time...

I too am looking at that hotel, if you find something could you pass it on to me? Thank you!
I've not stayed at that hotel (we always rent a villa when we stay on the island) but have eaten at their restaurant numerous times and have always been impressed by the staff and what I have seen of the resort. For what it is worth I've never heard anyone complain about anything at this hotel. I have high standards when it comes to hotels and I'd have no qualms about staying there. I relaize this answer isn't really "on point" but hope it helps a bit.
I was there over the weekend and the hotel can't be beaten, It recently won the award for the best hotel in the Caribbean, and the second best in the whole of the Americas, including the US.
No matter where you are you are only a short hop from the beach.
Yes it does. It is a fantastic place. If you can afford it, definitely go!

I too have never stayed overnight there, but I have eaten there and it does indeed seem lovely. I can understand why it is considered the best hotel on the island - if not the entire Caribbean. It is on Anse des Flamands, which is also possibly the nicest beach on the island.
The only possible negative I can imagine (with the exception of the hefty price tag) is that I've heard there is occasionally a flying insect problem at night if one stays on a beach. Can anyone comment on this?
