Hi I noticed a lot of seasoned posters on Fodors use the abbreviation DH when writing about others....does this stand for Dear Husband? Woulo love to know how that abbreviation came into vogue on this site as I've never seen it elsewhere. THanks!

Dear Husband is generally how I interpret and use the "DH"

DD = dear daughter
DS = dear son
SO = significant other

DH is pretty common internet lingo. If I had to guess I'd say it was started on theknot.com, which is an ubiquitous wedding planning site.

They were here this weekend finalising the confounded wedding plans. I guess I'm officially not going to Harbour Island in August.
But...Harbour Island will always be there I suppose.

And LW is NEVER EVER "little wife". I think the official translation is "Lovely Wife"!

Don't feel too bad....I am 38 and just found out in the last year what DH meant and got my first cell phone at 34!
