I'm finally getting hitched and now it's time for a kick ass honeymoon! We are looking for an island with uncrowded beaches, laidback feel (no traffic or herds of people), tons of sun in December, and outdoor fun (biking, fishing, atv, hiking, tanning, snorkeling). It's hard to figure out which island would give us the small, easygoing feel. Please help!

My fav for this...
Congrats!
December is a tough call for "lots of sun." Much as I love the Bahamas, I wouldn't go there in December, when the weather can be too iffy and subject to cold fronts. Likewise, some of the more northern Caribbean islands can be subject to the "Christmas winds," which can blow you right off the beach (well, I exaggerate a little, but if you're wanting to do boat-oriented activities, it can make them pretty uncomfortable).
In December, I would go pretty far south. For laid-back, and with plenty of outdoor "lite" adventure, I would recommend Grenada. Rain forest, waterfalls, crater lakes, really interesting local cuisine -- with some pretty great beaches as well. A handful of cruise ships call on the island, but not in any meaningfully noticeable way. Plus, Grenadians are about the warmest, friendliest people I've encountered in all of my travels in the West Indies.
St John has good snorkeling, hiking, biking, is very laid back and can be quiet. Much of the island is a national park. You can rent a villa for privacy.
Virgin Gorda. Take a look at Mahoe Bay villas.
if not for december i'd recommend isla mujeres (just off the coast of cancun) for a few days possibly combined with a few days near playa del carmen for the more active pursuits like atv ride in jungle.
isla would offer you beach, snorkel, diving and everyone gets around on golf carts. but you could see temps in the mid 70's
in dec
something else to consider is that from dec 15 til after new years is the absolute most expensive time to travel to the caribbean. followed by 'high season' lasting until mid april. so if you can go in early dec you'll save a bundle.
grenada might be an excellent option for you as callaloo mentioned.
where will you travel from? how do you feel about more than 2 flts? (many times you fly to san juan or miami then to your destination - others require a 3rd plane or ferry ride) what is your nightly hotel budget? are you thinking more hut on the beach or the ritz? looking for any nightlife? are fabu restaurants important? how do you feel about renting a car?
One thing - you can not bike on St. John. No way. Other than that, it's fabulous.
generally speaking you don't find things like ATV excursions where there is 'no traffic' or 'herds of people'. Those kinds of business are for tourists, not local people.
I'm not sure it is a fit to your list but when I saw the title of your thread I thought of this place in Negril www.tensingpen.com
