Should we go to Bermuda?
My g/f and I are scrambling to book a week vacation during New Year's week and time is running out. We've gone back and forth on Jamaica, Miami, Belize, etc. and just can't decide. Found this resort http://www.fairmont.com/southampton/ and it looks pretty damn amazing and affordable. I've traveled a lot to Europe, Hawaii, and Mexico, but never to this area (We live in San Diego). We're both young and like to hit the bars, but also want gorgeous beaches and activities. My g/f is tall and blonde and gets hit on a lot, so I'm trying to avoid anywhere sketchy. Can anyone give me some advice or confirm that this will be a good time and place to go? Thanks a million!

Keep in mind that it won't be particularly warm in Bermuda in Dec/Jan -- hence the low rates. Please check past weather reports -- I suspect it could be in the low 50's and possibly wet. Bermuda is beautiful but not a wonderfully sunny/beach type vacation spot in the winter.

Simbam is correct, you will not want to swim in the ocean in Bermuda during that time of year. I'm not too sure about the rain part, if you want warm/hot weather, little to no chance of rain and lots of nightlife, I would recommend Aruba. Plenty of bars and the beaches are gorgeous. The island is very small so you can rent a car and get around it in a day. I think Aruba is a little cheaper than Bermuda.
I have stayed at the Fairmount Southhampton property and it is wonderful. We went in early December and it was sunny in the day (75 to 80 degrees) but very cold at night (60 or below)

I will preface this by saying I haven't actually been yet, but for part of our honeymoon next summer, we're going to St. Martin. It's supposed to have beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and lots of nightlife/casinos. Might be worth looking into...

Well, every one is going to have an opinion about what is "best" but when you say bars and beaches, the one that is the winner, hands down, is Aruba. Any beach that is located in front of any hotel is pretty nice. I don't know how hard it is to get there from SD, though.
