The Sheraton is next door to the Marriot. It's probably the cheapest. The food is not good although there's a large variety of it. They have boating, etc. and two bars. Breezes is an AI, so it's all included. They have 3 bars and three pools. The Marriott is the best. The food is of a very good quality, including the desserts. They have three restaurants. If you do choose tha Sheraton, make sure you get over to the Marriott at least once for their breakfast.

Well, we booked Breezes today. The price was the about $300 more including all food and drink. At that price we could still try other restaurants. We love snokling and plan on renting a car for a few days, any suggestions? thanks

Penny,
Glad to hear you are going to leave the resort and rent a car for a few days. Make sure you get into the downtown area as it is a very charming town. It is the home of the Curacao Liqueur and they do have the Senior and Sons distillery. Thay have lots of free samples and you can buy souvenirs. They also have the Amstel brewery.
There are plenty of good restaurants that serve great food. You might want to try Rijsstafel, as that's near Breezes. Also, Small World. You must try the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce with the Rice and Fresh Vegeatables. You will want to snorkel on the west side of the island as that is the most tranquil waters. Pick up a magazine called "Curacao Nights". Has lots of info on activities, history, shopping, etc. etc. There is a website www.curacao.com and you can find lots of info. Have fun.

We were really happy at the Sheraton. It had a great beach and pool area, and its in a good location. The Marriott, literally next door, is fancier (more $$$) but also great.

MARRIOTT,MARRIOTT,MARRIOTT When we did our research for our trip last September that's all we heard about, not much about anywhere else. Well everyone was right, it was great and I'd go back there in a heartbeat. While we were there we heard a women saying that she had a week booked at Breezes but it was so bad that she transferred to the Marriott. Hope this helps!

My husband and I stayed at Breezes November 2002 and had a wonderful time. I think you will enjoy it. I would request the Plover building.

The Marriott has an open air lobby, one of the few in the world. We were treated like royalty. The grounds are spectacular. We will definitely go back.

LikeToTravel: Do you mean one of the few Marriotts in the world -- because lots of Caribbean hotels have open air lobbies.

Penny, the Breezes used to be the Princess Beach, which was very badly run. Hopefully they have upgraded since then. If you want to go somewhere nearby, try the Mambo Beach; very popular with locals, especially at Happy Hour and they do barbeque evenings. Very relaxed and fun.
