****Now that I have your attention.....
This is a sparse board. I guess the talk is true. Tobago is quiet and isolated. Well, that's just great. I am looking for a less traveled, peaceful place, with a great resort (with first class amenities) a great beach <within walking distance> great food, and top notch friendly service. To much???
Come on Tobago travelers. Share! What was you experience? Be bold. Help a brother out. Hotels sights, restaurants, snorkeling spots. How were the people? Speak loudly fellow brothers and sisters.
OK. that's quite enough from me.
Looking forward fodorites.

You might get a greater response if you title your thread Sex in Tobago. LOL
hmmmmmm sex AND beaches! Always wanted to go to carnival in Trinidad and then recover on Tobago for a few days. Anyone????
I'm not too ashamed to admit this, but your subject heading DID get my attention (more for the sheer audacity).
Anyway, I spent a week on Tobago (about three weeks ago) and I had a great time. There is a new(-ish) Hilton near the airport that may suit your needs for luxury accomodations. I decided, instead, to split my time between Castara (on the Caribbean side of the island) and Speyside (on the Atlantic side of the island). Our accomodations in Castara (at The Blue Mango) were rustic, but the views of Castara Bay were stunning. Plus, the beach was a mere five-minute walk from The Blue Mango. If you're seeking something a little more comfortable, try Manta Lodge in Speyside. This part of Tobago is known for excellent scuba diving opportunities. The Blue Waters Inn is also in Speyside. It is considered to be a luxurious option. My friend and I had drinks there and we weren't impressed with the decor. VERY LOVE BOAT! Plus, I hear their restaurant isn't that spectacular.
If you chose to stay near the airport (as many visitors do), keep in mind that you'll have to drive to the best beaches, including Castara, Englishman's, and Parlatuvier. You will be near the nicest hotels on the island (and some of the better food). I recommend that you select a location near the airport for part of your trip (providing easier access to Buccoo Bay, etc.) and Manta Lodge for the other part of your trip.
The people were really nice, but initially suspicious of strangers. Always remember to wave to people on the street. While I was in Charlotteville (near Speyside), I was trying to take a picture of three boys on a boat. Their mother wanted to know why I was taking the picture. After I gave her a satisfactory response, she insisted I send her a copy of the photograph.
If you do stay in or near Speyside, you MUST spend countless hours relaxing in the waters of Pirates Bay. Bring snorkelling equipment! It's a real treat!
Good luck and enjoy your trip!
