Seven Mile Beach Questions

We haven't been to GC for 10+ years.
I remember that the beach was rocky close to Georgetown.

So----about where on the beach do the condos start with the beautiful sand beach?
And possibly be able to walk to grocery store & a few restaurants.
And, not next to the big hotels with hundreds of beach chairs.

We've just started checking the condos out so any suggestions would be helpful because there are so many to choose from.
Budget---open
For 2 people in March

We've been going to Grace Bay, TCI for the last 5 yrs. so we are used to the prices.
We'll probably rent a car for a few days but sometines like to walk to dinner.
The best restaurant we remember was "The Wharf."

It is sandy starting from the Marriott & Comfort Suites area upwards. If you can find a condo near to these hotels, you will be able to walk to Kirk's grocery store and to Georgetown. I have to say that the grocery stores are very expensive, the price of a packet of chips was about USD$5.

The central part of Seven Mile Beach has the best beach. The beach is wide and sandy. It is most accessible to restaurants and it is near a Foster's supermarket. The central part is the most expensive to rent. A good compromise if you do not have an unlimited budget, is the north part of Seven Mile beach. The beach is the least crowded but less accessible to restaurants, although the Foster's supermarket in West Bay is close by. The south part of Seven Mile Beach is rocky in some places, narrow, crowded around the Marriot and especially crowded around the Royal Palms, where many of the cruise ship passengers go.
This part of the beach is also very accessible to the restaurants.

Many restaurants have much better food and service than the Wharf. The Wharf has average food but people are impressed by the view and forget its shortcomings. The most people consider Blue at the Ritz-Carlton to be the best on the island. Other excellent restaurants are the Brasserie, Luca, Blue Cilantro, Ortanique and Osetra Bay.

Thanks---just the kind of info I was looking for.

The research of condos will start in depth.

try checking out caymanvacations.com

It will have all the different condos and their locations on 7MB.

IMHO, the Wharf was a tourist trap.....We thought the Reef Grill at Royal Palms blew it away.

Bassguy66---thanks fir the tip.. It was a long time ago that we had dinner at The Wharf. We do enjoy a good dinner uner the stars.

Does anyone have a favorite condo on a nice part of the beach?
I've been looking at so many that I get confused. Looking for 1 that sleeps 4 adults & 2 kids right on the beach, probably up to &600 a night at Easter time. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Last May, we stayed at the Plantana condos. They were very nice & staff was wonderful. It was very quiet then. We had a 3 BR, I think ocean view. There's a discount grocery in walking distance & some restaurants. It does have a pool. Check it out.
