Seven mile beach

Hi,We're looking for a hotel on seven mile beach within walking distance to alot of things (shopping, crafts, restaurants). I will be alone while my husband takes scuba photo classes at Sunset House. Any suggestions? Thanks, Lisa

You could always stay at Sunset House, which offers inexpensive accommodations. Not on the beach, but it is on the ocean, and has one of the best outdoor bars to take in the sunset anywhere in the world.

You can stroll downtown for duty free shopping, and the money you save on accommodation will certainly pay for plenty taxi/bus rides to 7MB.

Just an idea !

If money isn't an issue, you could stay at the Hyatt. You could have an easy walk to several restaurants, internet cafe's, shopping centers, etc. Plus, I think the Hyatt has a shuttle bus. If you REALLY don't mind a good, long walk, I would totally recommend the Westin where I stayed. I loved the walks and figured it just burned off the calories I was eating!

Thanks guys...What I'd love is the Hyatt or Westin bed at the Sunset House price!!! I HAVE to have a balcony which seems to knock out a few choices. I couldn't see balconies on the Comfort Suites or the Marriott Courtyard. What about the Grand Caymanian Resort?

We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott when it was known as the Holiday Inn. The hotel is across the street from the beach. The rooms do not have balconies. The hotel is not within walking distance to George Town, but has the public van stop right out front for $2.50 US p/p. Very easy and convenient.

Their beach area is absolutely gorgeus. The best beach of any Island we've seen to date. They have a bar, outdoor restaurant, rest rooms and watersport rentals. We enjoyed our stay there.

The Grand Caymanian is very nice and does have nice balcanies... But, they don't have that great of a beach and the water is not the best for swimming. It's set back quite a bit from 7 mile beach so if you are planing on walking it will be tough.... again, not too many restaruant close by. You would need a vehicle staying at the Grand Caymanian. Stay on 7 Mile Beach! You won't regret it.

Look up the specials for the Westin. That's what I did and it made it more affordable. I got a double upgrade from being a Starwood Member. The incredible room I got was well worth the price.

Yes, the Grand Caymanian opened in June. We are going down in 2 weeks and I can't wait. Their rooms and balconies are wonderful. We stayed there 2 years ago and we didn't regret it. True the beach isn't good for swimming but they do have a restaurant on site and they can shuttle you to 7MB which is less than 5 minutes away.

Great replies....thanks....We don't really HAVE to be on seven mile beach..I just wanted to be able to walk (or shuttle) my way around alone and I'd heard that there are alot of things to do and see on seven mile beach. True?

Depends on what you mean by see and do a lot. Activities are water related - snorkeling, parasailing, jet skis, or sitting and enjoying the view or a book. There are shops if that interests you but nothing that's a bargain. Turtle Farm. Snorkeling with the sting rays.
