I haven't been to Tobago but if you get a lot of negative feedback from your question you could always look into Aruba. Now I don't mean the Aruba people are always yacking about on these sites,I mean the one with the low-rise resorts, the gentle tradewinds, the desert trail in a rented jeep, the Natural bridge...you get the picture.
Peter,
I've been to Tobago several times but not in September. As you may know, Tobago rarely gets hurricanes but it can rain in September. Several people I know have experienced short daily showers while staying in September, but I suppose in some years the rain may be heavier.
If you repost your question with "Tobago" in the subject line, you may get more responses from people who've been there at that time.
Peter. I was on honeymoon in end of October and start November 2002 for about 14 nights. The weather was sunny everyday except for 2 days where it rained all day. Small, unspoilt island but beautiful with lots to do including a small rainforest. It is the friendliest but one of the least developed islands in the Carribean (which I loved, you may not!)Service etc is very slow, as the culture on the island is very laid back. It didn't bother me, but did some U.S visitors who were there. The locals said the best weather is December to April. They also say the most luxurious hotel on the island is the Blue Haven, we didn't get to see it but it was recommended to us. Beware, as many of the hotels claim to be 4-star but are more 3 star in reality. The Hilton looked nice, but was on the wrong side of the island and is an eyesore. We stayed at the Grand Courlan which was 4 star, but average in my estimate, had huge bedrooms and very friendly staff. All inclusive gets a bit boring though, so check out the islands amazing (and expensive) restaurants, incl. the Shirvan Watermill.
