sept. wedding in the caribbean

Hi, I want to get married labor day weekend in the caribbean and are expecting about 40 guests. I know that this is hurricane season, but it's the only time that works for a lot of our guests b/c a large percentage of them are teachers. And, anytime before that is too soon. I know that Aruba, Bonnaire and Curacao are all safe from hurricanes, but I've already been to Aruba and was hoping for someplace different. (Possibly Barbados or Turks and Caicos). Also, I heard that Bonnaire is only good for divers (none of us dive). I don't know anything about Curacao. Please let me know if anyone's been to a destination wedding in any of the above mentioned places. Let me know which location/hotel they suggest. Or if you recommend a different location to host my wedding. We'd consider going as early as June, but prefer labor day weekend. Thanks!

I think Barbados would be a perfect, well-rounded island for you and your guests to enjoy (something for everyone). Write me directly for my free, extensive tips on the island -- people find them extremely helpful. Let me know you are the one with the wedding when you write.

Since you are expecting so many people, I would suggest heading to a travel agent ASAP, before you make any solid plans.

You can probably get all kinds of perks and packages based on the number of people you are expecting.

I would also put Nassau or any of the outislands into the equasion, since it's so easy and much less expensive to get to the Bahamas. Most of the major carriers fly directly into Nassau from many cities in the US and you can arrange ground transportation with most of the hotels there as well. There's all kinds of activities available, including some great shopping and site seeing and lots of great restaurants.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a wonderful time.

Barbados is kinda outa the hurricane belt Everyone I know that has been to Curacao loved it. but what about Aruba? The Hyatt is the best there.
The end of June could still work for the teachers.

I am a meeting planner and have planned many destination weddings. It is very important to negotiate a group rate as well as purchase wedding insurance.

My husband & I had our destination wedding in June 7 years ago on the beautiful island of Anguilla.

Good luck and congratulations!

I'm just seconding the travel agent part -- had a friend get married in Jamaica (not suggesting that for Sept) and the arrangements were included in the invitations -- Great package for the guests: in addition to the incredibly reasonable air/resort package, it included nice touches like manicure/pedicure/hair styling.
