Selecting tour destination

Hi all,
I am staying in Jersey city and planning to go for a trip to Caribbean Islands for 4 days during last week of December with my family of four (2 kids who are below 6yrs, husband and myself). Our budget is around $2500. Can anyone suggest a good place to go. Is Aruba a good destination with the current budget and timing.

    The last week in December is the most expensive week in the Caribbean, both for accommodations and airfares. Also, many resorts have 7, 10 or 14 day minimum stay requirements during the Christmas/New Years period and a large percentage of the hotels/resorts have been fully booked for that period as much as a year in advance. All that will limit your resort/hotel choices.

    Quite honestly, a $2,500 budget for 4 people for 4 nights during Christmas/New Years is not a lot of money. Even if you could find relatively cheap R/T airfares of say, around $400/ person that only leaves you about $800 ($200/night) for EVERYTHING else.

    I think Aruba is out of your budget range. I did a quick check and airfare (from Newark Liberty Airport) alone during the period you want to travel will run you in excess of $900/person.

    You might want to look at "package deals" to some of the more budget friendly destinations in the Caribbean like Cancun, Cozumel or the Dominican Republic but don't be surprised if you encounter a lot of "no vacancies" during your search. Also, you might try to see if you can book a last minute cruise to the Bahamas out of Miami.
