We are looking for suggestions as to where to look for a truly secluded beach house rental. Last year, we found one, and loved it, in Zancudo Costa Rica. Population 300 people. Private beach house, no other rentals on the property. We are trying to duplicate that this year, anywhere in the Caribbean or Central America but, are having problems finding something suitable. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

Budget always helps
judging by the population you're seeking, might want to stick to Placencia in Belize, or lower part of Mexico (almost at Belize border)
Some Out Islands in Bahamas might work for you too, such as Inuagua at the end of the chain.
Salt Cay might be perfect for you, quirky, stunning beach and population of 65, oh and throw in whale watching this time of year. Check out Castaways villas on Salt Cay, sounds made for you. Transportation is on a golf cart, and you leave making friends with everyone.
Hi. Thanks for your response. We will look into your suggestions. Ah yes, the budget. max is $1,000 a week, for 2 weeks, 1 or 2 bedrooms is fine, 1 bathroom is fine. Nice if they had a tv/satellite for night time wind downs (but not a deal-breaker if they don't).
Salt Cay is closer to $800 weekly, no TV
Forget Caribbean, stick to Central America for your budget, you won't find your budget anywhere in Caribbean. Plus airfare is expensive to islands
How about Panama? Take a look at the vrbo listings for the Pacific beaches.
Still looking. Thanks to all who have responded so far.
Honduras. Check out www.vrbo.com places there are super cheap and the water and snorkling, diving unreal
In VRBO, I remember seeing a low cost home rental(simple home in a spectacular setting) on a Cay in Belize. It was the only home on that side of the Cay and your only human interaction was with the morning fisherman who stopped at your dock to sell you their fresh catch morning
