Seagrass at the Gansevoort?
Along with the 150 great reviews on TA about the Gansevoort, there is a review that mentions the large amount of seagrass there. Has anyone else ever had a problem with this? We're booked there for the first week in June. I have a feeling that this person was just one of those people who can find things to complain about. My fiance and myself love the water and the beach, and this was one of the main reasons we chose Turks. We shouldn't consider cancelling that reservation and booking another place should we?
Thanks in advance

There is seagrass patches in front of Gansevoort, but it's far enough away that you have to swim to it . The reason to swim to it? Swim with turtles!
However, the water is usually calm, and seaweed does not comeup on the beach.o

We were booked at the Gansevoort in December. But, after we got there from the airport, we weren't impressed and immediately left. It was too much of a NY type of scene, which is fine for some people but not for us on a beach vacation.
We ended up staying at the Grace Bay Club, which is very nice.
Gansevoort and West Bay Club are a good ways away from the main stretch of Grace Bay and the beach is not as nice there.

I do not like the location either ...like something more central. Look at The Somerset www.thesomerset.com

We currently have budgeted 3500 USD for the room for 7 nights including (not counting airfare). We plan on spending around 2000 while there for food, activities, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on where 2 young professionals should stay on their honeymoon for approx this budget? Presence of many children would be negative. Location on beach is one of few requirements.

Hello,
I live next door to the Ganesvoort. The grass is actually Turtle grass which is 1/2 to 3/4" long. It creates an amazing color scape of greens & blues and feeds turtle families. It is far out enough that you can snorle to it and see awesome sea life right from your beach. The beach down tword the heavy beach traffic areas like Grace Bay Club are cloudy water and generally uninteresting! You will love the west Bay area as it has the widest beach on Grace Bay and is not congested like the other resorts. I think you made a good choice!!! Have fun and enjoy.

Grace Bay is not congested...please!!! Maybe by Beaches Resort but, it is in no way congested...it is a long beautiful beach. The West Bay Club area is just a bit off of the beaten path for some, I like many prefer the Somerset area !!

Whether you think Grace Bay is congested is relative to your own experience. Personally, I think Grace Bay is extremely congested and over built. We tend to avoid going to Grace Bay the way we avoided the mall in the states. We might go over once or twice a year if that.
