Sandals Whitehouse

Jump to last reply

We are going on SWH in April and want to book some tours. We are looking into the Pelican Bar, Lets Go Native Negril, and the South Coast River, Rum & Falls tour. Which tours did you go on? What did you like/dislike about them? Thanks!!

As in your other post, I suggested all of your picks. Now I will go in detail here.
Let's start with the Pelican bar
Great cruise there with some stunning coastline, you are offered food, it changes daily, because everything is fresh. literally you watch the guy go to the nets. We had both offerings they had that day and I liked my wife's fish over the conch.
no cons, had a wonderful time. If you go, bring some cash because they do not take cards. Oh and while I am on the cash thing. Don't bother to change money to Jamacian dollars at the airport. They base everything on us dollars anyway, so anything bought will be the us dollar amount, they know you are a tourist. you certainly won't get any Jamacian discounts with their money.
    Let's go Native Negril
prepare a day for this, starts out early, enjoy the ride to Negril, shop at a few places. Look out for weed peddlers they are everywhere, especially on the beach since it is public.
after shopping you go to Margaritaville and Sandals Negril. If you plan on visiting another Sandals here is your chance to inspect this property, if not, just enjoy the beach, pools, and drinks. Notice the narrow beach with all the chairs close together on this property (no privacy).this is one of the reasons why we cut our 7 day stay here to go back to Whitehouse BTW.
after that you go to Rick's, a well known and heavily featured bar on T.V. here you will watch the famous sunset that this location boasts. bring cash for drinks and food, and if you are brave enough, jump off the cliffs.
Suncoast River and Falls and Rum tour.
Highly recommended. enjoyed the pontoon ride and seeing the crocs. The falls are good and cold. I think they zipline there as well now. When you get there, if you are hungry, get some jerk from the shack before you get on the jitney to the falls . If you decide to go up falls, there will be folks there to" help" you along and to watch your camera, billfold etc. for a price. My advice is to plan ahead because you will not be able to get back to the bus to leave/swap your things. If you are planning on pictures and swimming the falls you will have to leave your camera and things off to the side, in the open. If they are lockers available, get them. Our stuff never got bothered, but I wasn't far away if you know what I mean. Again enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the mineral pools. The pool with the black bottom out in the open was wonderful and warm. the pool at the bottom of the hill was cold as the falls. The Rum tour is good as They feed you a meal here, and you get to try many(and often) as much rum as you can hold. There is a wheelchair there to roll you back to the bus LOL.Try the J Ray and nephew overproof to get what the islanders drink.
All in all great tours, awesome picks.I don't think you will be disappointed at all.Enjoy!
