Just returned from Sandals Grande St. Lucia. I would highly recommend skipping Sandals and heading straight for the Jalousie Hilton.

They were 180 degrees apart.

Sandals Grande had a negative unpleasant vibe, maintenance issues, main pool and jacuzzi were often closed for hours at a time. The main pool is cold because it's shaded by the large building above the pool bar. We often felt harassed by the staff. Very unpleasant experience. We brought these issues to the hotel managers attention on several occasions and he was most unhelpful. We would never return to the Sandals Grande St. Lucia, we even turned down 3 free nights they offered us on our last day. A case of too little too late.

The Jalousie Hilton on the other hand was peaceful and beautiful. The pool was located in the full sun with many umbrellas all the way around and trellised areas if you wanted shade. The staff was low key and pleasant, always there if you need something but never obtrusive. The beach and snorkeling were fabulout, breathtaking views of the Pitons on each side. Would go back in a heartbeat.
