Don't let the prospect of sandfleas, skeeters, harmless anoli lizards and bug life in the tropics dissuade you.
It's just a fact of life, missing from
our largely antiseptic Stateside culture. Just bring the Deet.

I've been to several islands and the Cancun area. I realize that sand fleas live in the sand. Negril is the ONLY place I've seen sand fleas. I've been at other islands after a rain and "NO" sand fleas. I wanted to know if Jamaica has a greater than usual amount of sand fleas. We are early risers so a morning problem with the fleas IS a problem for us especially because it seems like Jamaica has alot of rain in early May (when we plan to visit)!!

We have been to Ocho Rios several times and have not eperienced sand fleas there. However, the Whitehouse area of Jamaica, south of Negril, was horrendous! Thank goodness for Off Wipes....easy to pack, no spray or lotion to contend with! I always pack them when I travel, just in case.
