I am planning on taking a day trip from St. Maarten to Saba. Does anyone know approximately how much it costs to do a taxi tour of the island? Also I have read that you can have a taxi drop you off to do some hiking and arrange to be picked up later. Has anyone tried that, and were you successful? I am a little hesitant after a similar set up nearly left me stranded in the Virgin Islands. I would be traveling by myself and like to try to avoid those kinds of issues if I can. Thanks.

I was in Saba for a few days back in January (female solo traveler). I used the taxi services of Eddie Peterson. He was recommended by someone on this board. Mr. Peterson was great. The cost for the island tour was $50 (it lasted about 2 hours). I assume it's a little more if you have him drop you off to go hike and pick you up afterward. I suggested him to someone else on another board and she ended up using him for her day trip. She also had a great experience with him. Mr. Peterson can be found at the airport when planes arrive.
I should have said "I assume it's a little more if you ALSO have him drop you off..."
