My fiance and I are getting married there in October and bringing 3 other couples with us.
How do you arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel?
Do you tip everyone on just about everything?
Did you by chance go horseback riding at the Rose Hall Beach club?
I am so excited to go!!!

The Ritz Carlton has a check in service at the airport and a van to take you to the hotel. I'm sure there is a charge for this. Round up your luggage as soon as you deplane and show it to the porter at the Ritz check in lounge. They will give you a wet rag and some water to drink too. You should sign up for the package that includes are meals, drinks, etc. It's a bargain. Drink anything and as much as you want. I did not go riding but I did walk past the stables. I would do this if you wanted to. I think you have to tip everywhere you go. Go by the bank and get $200.00 in $1's and $5's before you leave. Don't waste your time shopping in Montego Bay. It's not worth the trip. If you go sightseeing please note the roads and traffic are terrible. Just stay at The Ritz and enjoy your wedding. Good luck.

We were on the Key to Paradise package which is all inclusive. When we arrived at the airport we were directed to the Ritz Carlton room. From there we were put on a van (not the RC one) There is, however, an actual van provided by the Ritz Carlton. It costs $35.00 per person round trip. (or may be included, depending on who books the package you have)

Yes, we tipped just about everyone. Even though tips were included in our package, we tipped additionaly for all breakfasts, lunch and dinner. We also got a bunch of singles before we left home and used those to tip (remember if you go to a cash machine in Jamaica, all you will get is Jamaican money-and believe me they would much rather have US$) We also tipped a buck or two for drinks, etc.

No, we did not go horseback riding, however, we met people who did. It was just down the road and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We did go on a raft trip down the Martha Brae river which was quite enjoyable. We did not have any desire to go outside the RC.

Again, we HIGHLY recommend this place. It was fantastic!!!

Tonya,
I think the Ritz also has private car service for $50 one way. I would inquire directly with the hotel. Otherwise you can take the Ritz shuttle for $17.50 one way or $35.00 roundtrip per person.

As far as tipping goes, I'm not sure if you're on the Key to Paradise plan. If so I believe they include a service charge of about 10% in your package rate for meals and beverages. We usually left an additional 10% in cash for meals and drink service and a few dollars a day for housekeeping. I also left a gratuity at the end of my stay for one of the concierge staff for booking my polo lesson, changing flight reservations, etc.

I didn't go riding at Rose Hall beach club but did take a polo lesson at Rocky Point(?) stables which was a lot of fun. It was just me and the instructor.

Thanks for all the info! I am on the Key to Paradise Plan. It just sounds so good to be true - but everyone says it is!
Eduser: Tell me more about the raft trip! Is this something you arranged with the concierge? Big raft? How far away from the Ritz and approx. $$?

The raft trip was booked through the conceirge. A bus picks you up at the RC at the appointed time (you can either go in the morning or afternoon). The raft is a two person one and it basically just moves slowly down the Martha Brae River. It takes approximately 1 1/2 hours. If you are a few couples the raft "pilots" do their best to keep the rafts somewhat together. The whole thing cost around $40 per person (this must be paid IN CASH). It was a nice way to spend some time away from the hotel.

They also offer trips to Dunn's Falls. We didn't go because it takes over 1 1/2 hours each way just to get there and the whole point is to climb to the top of the falls. As I was having back trouble and didn't think it would be advisable, we opted for the river trip instead.
