Rex Grenadian for a Honeymoon?

Has anyone stayed at the Rex Grenadian? My travel agent thinks we should try it. Also, Grenada seem so unique, any opinions as to how it compares with out islands. This is our first trip to anywhere tropical. We are also considering Punta Cana in the DR.

We've also booked the Rex Granadian though I've never been to Grenada. However, travelers on other kindler & gentler websites have said it;s ok though the food was mediocre. Quiet. Perhaps what you'd want for a honeymoon (or perhaps not?) When are you going?

Yes I've stayed there and loved it and loved Grenada. Try and get a beachfront room. Food and drink was fine, go AI. The staff were wonderful, really friendly and were all the islanders.

I haven't stayed at the Rex Grenadian, but have visited Grenada a few times (as well as many other islands in the rest of the Caribbean -- so I have some basis to compare). In my opinion, Grenada has a wonderful and nearly unparalleled combination of natural wonders (beautiful beaches, rain forest, crater lakes, waterfalls), interesting industry (nutmeg and spice production, rum distilling), history, lively local cuisine (much of it grown or caught locally and not shipped in from Miami) and -- above all -- warm and welcoming people. It's not especially easy to get there, but that helps keep it from getting overly commercialized. It's also not especially easy to get around on your own (the roads are rough and the drivers are adventurous), but there are a number of excellent tours which can show you the highlights.

Thanks for the comments on AI Rex Granadian. We booked a beachfront room. Did you see local talent at the hotel in the evenings? Or in town?

You'll see local dancers and musicians, and a steel band once a week. We didn't go into town at night as we went to bed early and got up early! The Rex was only half full when we were there (March) but we liked it that way.

Can I recommend LaSource for your honeymoon?

It's AI, plus you get a spa treatment every day.

If we had the choice of LaSource in Grenada (and we love the sister resort, LeSport in St. Lucia), we definitely would've went there.

Check out their website; it's everything they note and more. The beach is not THE most wonderful in comparison to the other properties in Grenada, but it's nice.

Hope this helps; congrats on the upcoming wedding!
