Yes, my husband and I were at the Rex Grenadian in March. We had a really great time. It was our first AI Caribbean experience so I don't have much knowledge for comparison. We wanted to go to Grenada, and we liked the price of the Rex. The rooms were mediocre. Clean, but nothing special. Ours was by an ice machine which was a little noisy, and there were a couple of cracked tiles. Next time I would go for a beach front room. We had a seaview room with a balcony. The food was all buffet, but wonderful. There is one non-buffet restaurant, but the menu didn't appeal to us. There were a lot of local dishes and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables at the regular buffet. Many, many choices. We loved the beach. There are two small, but quiet beaches with plenty of shade(trees) if you want it. There were quite a few rocks just at the water's edge. We loved the little hobie cats they had for guests' use. Most of the guests were European and there were several families with children. The Rex is certainly not a luxury resort, but we really enjoyed ourselves and the wonderful island of Grenada.
My husband and I went in January for our honeymoon. We had a good time but we would not stay there again. I expected more out of the resort-especially for our honeymoon. Rooms were adequate in size but painted a mint green color. Awful for applying makeup plus unflattering lighting. Beds were very hard and the bathroom needed maintenance. Grenada is gorgeous and you should go and see it I just would not recommend the Rex. If you care just about the beach and pool then you may be pleased as I found the beach small but beautiful. Never crowded. Pool was a plain rectangular shape and good temperature The pool bar had unbeatable views of St. George. Breathtaking sunsets. Music and buffet lunch at the pool daily. Best food was there. Nighttime a la carte was the toughest for us. Indian food. Everything candied, jerked or heavily spiced. Not our style. We stuck to salads, rices and desserts. As far as all inclusives go, the alcohol selection was not all inclusive. I could not get a lot of mixed drinks because some things could not be substituted and they don't know how to make a lot of things. Or somethings are extra. I would give the resort 3 stars. People were friendly. If you write the maid specific notes she will deliver. Otherwise you will run out of towels, shampoo and conditioner. I am sure they are instructed to cut costs and not give away stuff but I like a stocked room and by day 2 with no conditioner I was scaring myself. If you do go to Grenada go and see Annandale falls, Grand anse beach and do snorkeling/scuba.
