Retreat at Rum Point?

Has anyone been out to the Retreat lately? Sandy, you were planning a trip, were you able to go? We have reservations for March, do you think it will be inhabitable by then?
Thanks.

The ground floor of the Retreat was totally destroyed, and they will not be open until next September, at their last estimate. The beach is gone as well. Sandy and Ed went to Provo in October. (She posted a trip report on this board.) Sorry, but our building, near Driftwood, was destroyed too.

To CaymanSue,
Is next September really the projected opening date? How sad!! The last time I talked to Robert at the Retreat he said to call him before we made plans to go down in April. What's the latest on your condo? Are they going to totally rebuild? Also, what's going on with Frank? Has he started to work on the Driftwood?

To snorkelsue,
As CaymanSue mentioned we went to Provo a few weeks ago, since we couldn't go to GC. You might not be able to do your March trip, if they are now looking at September. I'd give Robert a call to see what the latest news is on the Retreat. I saw pictures of the Retreat after Ivan and believe me there's a lot of repairs to do. Bummer, I was hoping to go in the Spring.

I saw the info on the Retreat at www.caymanvacations.com. It says late summer/fall. We are still negotiating with the insurance people about North Pointe, but I am pretty sure we will have to go for a demolish and rebuild. So who knows when we will be ready. Harv just got back and says that the pictures don't relay the extent of the damage. So sad. Butehy have now restored power to most of North Side.

So sorry to hear how much damage there really is on GC. Was going to plan a family trip for only 5 days in July05 to either rum point area or north 7 mile beach area. Can anyone compare the extent of damage rum point area to north 7 mile beach? Many of the condo sites I have looked at say they will re open in springtime on 7 mile beach. Any info will be helpful. Thank you.
