Resort Recommendations, please!
I am in search of a great destination for a 4-5 day mother/daughter trip to the Caribbean over Memorial Day weekend. We will be 4 moms/4 daughters (14 year olds). Our requirements are: direct flight from the NYC area, resort with a beautiful beach AND a great pool(s), ideally with other activities for teenagers - such as, sailing, paddle boarding, snorkeling. We are not looking for anything TOO crazy (no Atlantis), but something with a nice balance between fun options for teens + relaxing and chill for the grownups. Would love suites/villas but not mandatory. We are focused on the Bahamas and Puerto Rico because of direct flight options and ease, but open to any and all suggestions!
Thank you in advance!

There are at least 15 islands and hundreds of resorts that will meet or exceed your requirements.
What is your budget for airfare, accommodations, food and activities??? The answer will help the responders here guide you in the right direction.
By the way, I'm guessing you actually want a non-stop flight to/from your destination - not a "direct flight" which in airline parlance means one or more intermediate stops but you ether stay on the same plane or switch planes but retain the same flight number.
From the NYC area you can reach the following islands non-stop:
Bermuda
Cancun
Cozumel
Nassau
Grand Bahama
Providenciales (in the Turks & Caicos)
Puerto Rico
Jamaica
Dominican Republic
Grand Cayman
St. Thomas
St. Martin
St. Kitts
St. Lucia
Aruba

Roamsaround, thank you for your quick response.
You are correct, by direct I mean nonstop -- no changing planes. We don't have a lot of time and would prefer not to have layovers and or extra travel time on multiple legs.
As for the list of possible nonstop destinations you list, in the interest of narrowing it down we are interested in the following:
Nassau
Grand Bahama
Providenciales
Puerto Rico
Grand Cayman
In terms of budget, we would like to keep it to less than less than $400-500/night per room. I can't put a budget on airfare right now b/c some will be flying on points/miles. Biggest concern is finding a resort/hotel and we will go from there.
Thank you!

You tagged Turks and Caicos, I think Turks and Caicos is a perfect fit!
I assume you're going after school, so end of June or summer? Prices will go further then.
Check out Ocean Club West, and the upscale Seven Stars. (For 7 stars call directly and ask for Yngrit, having multiple rooms plus ask for specials might get you a gorgeous property!)
i would suggest other properties but you'll need car rentals to get around. (Would still be good for a couple of days of exploring). For excursions, go to Island Vibes, so much fun! They have roof top lounges and slides. Go snorkeling on outer reef and stop at stunning Half Moon Bay. They usually average around 18 persons, so you might even do a private charter for your group!
