I'm looking to rent an oceanfront villa in Oct. for about for 4 people. Would be open to anywhere and we are coming from the east coast. I would prefer a house or villa with at least 2 bedrooms, has a chef/housekeeper and has direct access to the beach. Max budget would be 3,000 (for accommodations) although would consider higher.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be able to find a villa that would fit this?

Assuming you are thinking of a week long stay your $3,000 budget is way low for a beachfront villa with staff unless you'd consider a 2 BR condo. You probably need at least double for a stand alone villa and more if you want a housekeeper and chef.

So, first question is how much higher are you willing to spend for your accommodations?

Would you consider renting a villa that's not on or within a short walk of the beach? If so, you might find something in the $3,000 range but here again you'll spend more if you want a full-time housekeeper and a chef.

I'm only able to go for 3 nights as of now and would increase the amount, just not sure by how much yet. I'd prefer on the beach.

Just wasn't sure where to start looking for any options.

This may be a very tough thing to find right now. The cheapest (and perhaps only) options are going to be in the Dominican Republic or Mexico. The DR, however, is still recovering from hurricanes Irma and Maria, and most of the rental villas are on the north coast. I that budget is completely inadequate for Casa de Campo, even for 3 days.

Another consideration is that you may not be able to get a villa for 3 days, even in October. Most villas are rented by the week. Round Hill can provide something like that, but again, the budget is completely inadequate.

I really think given all the disruption in the Caribbean, that your best choices will be in Mexico. But have you ever considered the Gulf Coast? Those beaches are beautiful, and October is off-season, but it should still be warm enough to swim unless you go very late in the month. But a full-time housekeeper and chef are probably out of the question in the US; having a chef come in to cook one special dinner would not be out of the question.

Even at $1000 nightly you probably won't get staff, and a mid week cleaning

$3000 a week will get you close to beach but self catering in most islands

Agree, renting a villa or condo for only 3 days (do you actually mean 3 nights???) is a long shot. There are certain fixed costs that owners incur when renting out their homes and these costs are the same regardless of whether the unit is rented for 3 days or a week. So that's why most villas/condos have minimum rental terms - usually a week. The would lose money renting for just 3 days. Quite honestly, 3 day villa rentals are "not the norm". That's not to say you wouldn't be able to find one or two but it would take a lot of phone calls or emails on your part to locate an rental agent or owner who would be willing to rent on to you for such a short period. It's doubtful anyone here can give you a specific recommendation.

You'd be better off just staying at a full service resort. $1,000/night for two couples comes out to $500/night per couple and thus totals your $3,000 budget for the 3 nights. For that budget you can get some nice beachfront resort accommodations that will give you "housekeeping" but not a chef. FYI - some resorts have multi-bedroom units which are perfect for couples traveling together.

Also, as pointed out many of the Northern Leeward Islands like the USVI's, the BVI's, Puerto Rico, St. Martin, St. Barth's, Barbuda, Dominica and parts of the Dominican Republic were severely damaged by Hurricanes Irma and/or Maria and won't really be ready for tourists in October. So I'd skip those.

Look at resorts on islands further south like Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent, the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Aruba, Curacao, or Bonaire.

Antigua had some damage from Irma but is recovering quickly - you might want check out Galley Bay, St. James Club or Jumby Bay on that island. I

In the Grenadines check out Palm Island Resort they have a variety of multi-bedroom units that might fit your needs. The only trade-off is the island is a little difficult to reach and (as the Viking River Cruise commercial says) with only 3 days you may spend more time getting there then actually being there.

Not sure how the Turks & Caicos Islands survived the onslaught of Irma and Maria but if they were spared look at some of the many beachfront "condo resort" on Providenciales' Grace Bay. Provo is a short flight from the US and the beach there is spectacular. It would be a great destination for a 3 day trip.

With your budget and a 3 day trip you are going to have to make some concessions.
