Recommendations for mid-November 2015 honeymoon destination
My fiancé and I are getting married in mid-November 2015. We will have about a week (Sunday arrival and Saturday return home). Ideally, we would like to go to a beach location that is quiet and secluded. We initially considered some of the pacific islands (such as the Maldives) but we ultimately decided against that because so much of our time would be consumed flying. I would say our price range for the week (include food, travel, incidentals, etc.) is between $5,000 to $10,000. Neither of us have ever been to the Caribbean before. We bought the Fodor's Caribbean guide and done a lot of searching on the internet about honeymoon destinations. There seem to be endless options, which I suppose is a good thing, but we have found this quite daunting.
We envision us mostly just sticking to ourselves, and we are mainly focused on the aesthetics of the beach/environment than anything else. I think all things being equal, we would enjoy more relaxing activities: hiking or snorkeling (although neither of us have done that). We aren't really looking for nightlife/bar scene at all. We are not picky eaters and can take or leave gourmet accommodations. Both my fiancé and I were struck by the over water cottages in the Maldives. I gather those are generally not feasible in the Caribbean due to hurricanes. But I think we liked the idea of not being in a hotel or conjoined houses. So "hut" or "cottage" on or very near the beach would be ideal. Two places that seemed somewhat interesting to us were Petit St. Vincent and Cocos Hotel in Antigua. Anyone have any other recommendations? Or if you have been to either of these, (i) feedback on the location or (ii) ideas for comparable ones? Also, does anyone have thoughts on the advisability of hurricane insurance? And if you think it was advisable, recommendations about where to obtain it.

Because you are focused on the aesthetics of the beach I would recommend you look more closely at the following -
Bahama out island - I just came back from Cat Island and the beaches are simply stunning. We stayed at a private house called the White House owned by the folks who run Shannas Cove resort on Cat island (its the number 1 small hotel on Cat island. Hotels are intimate since the island is quite undeveloped). This was one of our best beach vacations in terms of privacy and quality of the beach and we have travelled extensively over the caribbean for the past 18 years. We love off the beaten path vacations with the aesthetics of the beach (using your terms) and privacy/quiet as our main priority. But that comes at a price ie no big hotels, no shopping or high end restaurants. However you are more or less guaranteed to be the only ones on the beach.
Also look at Cape Santa Maria on Long Island. Simple rooms or units on a breathtaking beach.
If you are interested in something upscale check out the island of Anguilla. Several high end resorts on that island but I would recommend Cap Jaluca based on your priorities. Fine/romantic restaurants abound on Anguilla. However the island is one of the most exp in the Caribbean.
If you are looking to hotels on a private island I would also consider Guana Key in the BVI which looks amazing for a private honeymoon but I think the villas are not on the beach. In general I think you can do better than Petit St Vincent and Antigua in terms of quality of the beach elsewhere in the caribbean.

Staniel Cay, exumas, Bahamas
The yacht club has bungalows close to the water, and each one comes with a skiff for exploring all the Cays.
Water as pretty as Maldives (which is my favorite destination)
Food plan is outstanding and delicious
Swim with pigs on one cay
Sharks lay on your lap at another
Sand bars like at the Maldives
Iguanas at another
Snorkel the thundeball grotto (from the movie)
You can snorkel the aquarium but it's a little far
