We are looking for recommendations from anyone who has spent time on Bequia. We want to spend under $1000 for a weeks stay. There are 2 of us and we will be there for a little over 2 weeks. We are open to villas, homes, or suites. Does not have to be the Ritz, but we would like running water, clean sheets, flushing toilets, and maybe a small kitchenette to keep food expenses lower. We will be traveling by foot, so close to a beach is a must. We like white sand, and crystal clear waters, with few people! Mostly we eat at small local places, fish is a must, as well as vegetarian. So, within walking distance of small food venues and or a small market. Thanks for the help!

under $1000/week is still a pretty ample budget for Bequia accommodation and I think you'll find that most accommodations on the island will be within your reach.
Since you want to be near the beach yet within walking distance of restaurants, staying near Lower Bay sounds like it might be a good choice for you. There are a few beachbars right there on the beach. And if you can handle "Heart Attack Hill" you can walk into Port Elizabeth, the main town on the island, where more restaurants and shops are located. You'll find ample seafood options around the island, including the delectable conch, also known as lambi. Vegetarian options are available but a little harder to come by. Sometimes calling in advance helps. As far as "small local places" are concerned, you won't have any other options on Bequia, which is one of its many delights.
Keegan's and Dawn's Creole Cottage are two places that come to mind in the Lower Bay area.
Since you're going to be there for so long, you might want to break up your stay on the island a bit by trying two different areas. Our first stay on Bequia was for only 5 nights, so we chose to stay right in Port Elizabeth at the Frangipani. We loved being right in the middle of things and being able to walk to a different restaurant for every meal. I wouldn't want to be there for a longer stay since it is a rough walk (for us, not for everybody!) to the beach from there, but it was great for our introduction to the island.
If you do want to stay in town, either Gingerbread or Frangipani might be good for a few nights.
I would second EJ's recommendations. While on Bequia try to visit the main island of St. Vincent. There is regular ferry service and it is truly a beautiful island with great contrast between it and Bequia. Wayne Habash's speedboat tour around the islands is a great way to see the area by sea. Be sure to visit Brother King's turtle sanctuary. Quite amazing what one man is doing for the ecology literally one turtle at a time.
