The new Raffles Resort has received terrible reviews over at Trip Advisor.
Does anyone have anything nice to say about the resort? Is is worth it for a honeymoon?

"Is is worth it for a honeymoon?"
Well everyone has a different sense of "worth." I considered Raffles for our honeymoon but kept reading about staff/mgmt tensions and that it was overpriced for the quality (ie..it's not quite up to the 5-star standard). I think most would agree that the resort itself (grounds/buildings/etc) is absolutely stunning. However, service and value may be lacking (compared to other 5-star properties). I guess it depends on who you ask though (as there are good reviews), because everyone has different "standards."
What it boiled down to for me is that I wasn't going to take a chance that we not find it up to our expectations. I decided Raffles was too isolated--you're stuck paying whatever they charge, and you may only get a mediocre product in return. Just my .02. Good luck.
Thanks for the response!! I want my honeymoon to be perfect. I don't want anything to ruin it. I'm not worried about the $$$ but if the service/mgmt issues still exist and are as bad as they report on tripadvisor, I would not consider Raffles. Just really looking for a second opinion.
I completely understand. Find as many opinions as you can in the time that you have to work with and go from there. Good luck!
I recently posted a similar question on another board. It seems there are many people with axes to grind over the whole arrangement between the Hotel Corporation and the local people. It's hard to know whether the bad reviews are a form of pressure on the hotel group. But I do not believe that an organization such as the Raffles Chain would be offering an inferior product.
To Andy TN- Can I ask where you ended up going on your honeymoon?
Haven't been yet actually, but we're off to Montpelier Plantation in Nevis (in July). Very small (17 room) inn, "private" beach (though it's a 15min ride away), and 5-star dining--I've read nothing but good things. We're very much looking forward to it. Good luck with your search!
Andy - you will have a wonderful time. Montpelier is wonderful!
I vacationed at Raffles for a week late April 05. Although a truly beautiful place and should be a 5 star resort, the service was 2 star at best. Upon arrival we were welcomed by all the executive staff who were lovely. The rooms are very large and nice, restaurants are good but VERY expensive! Spa was wonderful. Golf course was amazing-the views were incredible! Pool is nice (would have been nice to have poolside service to order a cocktail -they were pretty good about bringing bottles of water all the time but there were no tropical fruits and cooling towels as advertised). There are 2 beaches. The main beach is just ok, the water there was so full of seaweed it was pretty gross but Godhals beach was much nicer.
The service was so spotty (housekeeping, waitstaff especially) and not even close to what you would expect from a 5 star resort but it seemed like the workers tried their best and they were so nice that we just made the best of it. I believe it is a serious lack of training/education. I read on one of the posts on tripadvisor.com that they need to take a lesson from The Four Seasons Hotel on service and that would definitely be the thing to do!
Also, mosquitos were a HUGE issue which they need to address. Maybe spray the area more often?
I could go on and on but all in all, we still had a nice time but not as good as last years vacation at The Four Seasons Nevis. We had thought about going back there but wanted to try something different. Somewhat of a mistake as I think we should have waited till Raffles irons out the kinks that a lot of new resorts have. I hope they do as it is really a beautiful place and could be a jewel in the Caribbean but for right now, there is not a better resort in the Caribbean than the Four Seasons Nevis as far as I am concerned.
Thanks Popeye for the current review!!
I keep hoping to read better reviews of the resort but so far no luck!!!
