Questions about the Atlantis Resort

Hi,

My wife and daughter (2 yr old) are planning on staying at the Atlantis Reef Resort in July. Does anyone know if the beach is nice near the Atlantis resort? Also, in case we decided not to stay at the Atlantis, how much are the day passes to use their waterpark facilities? Do you think it is a good idea to stay here with a 2 year old since we noticed that most of the activities are for kids over 3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

to be quite blunt atlantis is a huge and very expensive resort and not designed for kids as young as your daughter. they have no activities for her and you will spend a lot of energy schlepping her 'stuff' around with you.
as an alternative i suggest you look at Beaches resort on provo, turks & caicos. they have a program just for 2 yr olds. http://www.beaches.com/families/kids_camp.cfm
not to mention their nanny service for evenings if you and lovely wife would like to go out for a romantic dinner or even if a day excursion gets back after camp hrs.
provo is quite similiar in topography to bahamas, has gorgeous grace bay beach and lots of great restaurants (although beaches is all inclusive).
another good resort for little ones is fdr pebbles on jamaica.
or Beaches Boscobel or Starfish Resort also on jam.
in a couple years atlantis will delight your daughter.
hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your suggestions Virgina. We looked at the Beaches resort in Turks but it was very expensive. We have been to Jamaica and were hoping to go to another island. We'll continue to see what other places there are

I enjoy Atlantis, but agree that you should wait until your daughter is a bit older and can appreciate the aquariums and slides, etc.

From what I remember, the waters weren't calm enough for me to consider it a child-friendly beach.

When we were there, the ocean beach (public beach area, just outside the atlantis gates) always had a red flag up. So, no swimming due to the currents. That was during Oct a few years ago.
They do however have a lagoon beach that has no waves and is like a pool and you can rent paddle boats.
There is also another beach that has breakers out, so the waves are light.
I would think you would enjoy the resort, but your child will really enjoy it when she is about 6 and up.

Atlantis is the 2nd highest rated vacation destination for children. Granted it is mostly 3yrs plus, but it does have nanny/babysitting service. Its an enormous resort with private beaches. I just got back today and would 100% recommend it, but I would triple check your hotel bill becuase we are experiencing issues with our room charges.
There were lots of younger children under 2 enjoying themselves in the kid pools. My daughter turned one last week and really had a blast. She loves other children and is fascinated by them.

I'd definitely recommend atlantis!
